@fritzd: Thanks a lot! I have to congratulate you too for our intricate game (maybe more than it appears at first sight). I had to change my plans quite often and I might have lost if you had played some of the moves in a different order...

I also wish to thank all the other entrants, for they all played very well. Perhaps especially Jos Dekker, who had a winning path he missed near the end. But well, the games I played against Mirko Rahn and Sol were also very close, and a big part of the games with 5466, Pascal Huybers and christian freeling was also a tight fight; as for mickgraham, I'm still not totally sure whether he had a way to win (his main group could have reached the outside).

Still Havannah is dynamic, new lines and patterns are tried out and eollor as well as fritzd changed the focus from pure speed that where introduced by the smaller boards but remained the tactical insights and brought back the need for a global strategy. A very good development imho.

@Mirko Rahn: Thanks! I feel rather lucky to enter these clubs, for I won with a narrow margin. I still somewhat regret move 9 in my game against Jos Dekker, a mistake that I desperately tried to overcome afterwards.

After looking over a number of games from this tournament, I'm still confused by Eobilor's win against 5466 (http://www.littlegolem.net/jsp/game/game.jsp?gid=1587898).

At move 43, why can't Black just play J1? There's a lot of room for probes, but everything I try fails. What am I missing?

What would be the problem with 43.J1 44.P2 45.P3 46.J2?

Nothing whatsoever, of course. I looked at every move except the most natural one, it seems.
