I started as a go player and then picked up Havannah, Arimaa, and Slither. More recently, I am starting to try and play Polyomino, Hex and Twixt, but Havannah is the only game that I am any good at so far. If you are a skilled player, you should resign when the game becomes hopeless (beginners should often continue for the sake of learning). Playing a few moves to make the position obvious for spectators or to "find a place to resign" is fine (as is completing a game that is just a few moves from the end), but never resigning is bad form.
