Hello, everyone.
I notice that many people are trying the same style opening,
I am interested about that, how do you think about this ''horse style opening'' ?
I think it's really not bad, but in fect, I am now no idea about the opening for Slither,
many times I am trying ''random pick'', because I think it's not related to the victory.
I love this game, here I share my feeling about this game:
1. Try to let your shape beautiful.
2. First you lose a battle, then you may win the war.
3. There are many ''way'' to win, try to give up your every stone once you feel not good.

Thanks for sharing your insights!
For those confused by the term "horse style opening", I believe LEESD was referring to the (2, 1) knight moves (horse is the counterpart of knight in Chinese chess).

the above is a good example of Florian using the knight jump opening. He uses this strategy almost always, and wins with it nearly every time.

Yes, I'm trying to see if it is really good or just good (-:
I know it is not bad, I don't know if it is really the thing to do.
I play the current championship with this, and will see.
But I'll probably try a new thing in the next one !

If one player plays a 1-3 grid and the other a 1-2 grid, who do you think has an advantage?
As we have said, the drawback of the 1-2 grid is that you have to put a new pawn near the one you want to move.

@leesd: if this posting works (my first try), then try the "game board" link under "send message" to see how to do it :-). [game;id:1451829;move:34]

Hmm... I think a post of mine has been deleted here. I had posted about a new, drawless connection game inspired by the knight's move opening (one or two stones placed per turn, no sliding, no diagonal connections at the end of a turn, the board starts with a repeating pattern of black and white stones placed in such a way that each of them is a knight's move away from four enemy stones; it's kind of an improvement on Bridg-It).

No, that's a different game. Vimbre starts with an empty board and has a flipping rule.
