oh no!!!

im stuck at 13 kyu for a long time and it seems i cant get much higher than that.

it looks like i have to start studying "life and death" problems that i find so boring.

well, what else can i do???!!!!

Well, I guess one might ask what books you have read so far?

I have looked at just one of your games, no. 190740. Here you resigned after losing a group unnecessarily: if you had played move 87 at n18 instead of n19, it would have lived.

You could have learned this by doing life-and-death problems; or by reading a book on life-and-death (I find this more boring than problems, YMMV); or by learning to read out sequences better.

Furthermore, LittleGolem gives you the chance of read out more accurately, because of the long time allowed.

Well I could try to be more serious... :)

Little golem was good place to play with strong player... One only have to see often to tournament page and if there were strong players signed in monthly cup then sign too.

(I am afraid they dont start in MC so often like in gold past :-( )

When I played with some of them I also tried to discover secret of their strength (so was boring with stupid question :).

Sometimes I got good answers. :)

One time very strong player told me that he use to study at least one pro game every day... I was surprised and asked other very strong player. He "confessed" same thing!!! :)

Now I now why I didnt reach dan level! It is not because I am STUPIDE!!! It is just because I dont want to do boring things! :-)))

(Well I was not too long serious... :-/)

---

I am afraid it is still compromise between work and game ...

Dear pitirre I saw to your page and see that u are playing too much (3) games in chess and too few games in go (39) in this moment!

It really has to spoil your go strength!!! :o))

---

But seriously -> if u want to improve your death and life skill probably u could play more 9x9 games (I think these games go more quickly to phase where your groups are killed :)

U ask like future weight-lifter: "How many times per day u have to lift 1kg?"

It is wrong question! If u want to have strong muscle u have to train

1. with heavy weight

2. with series

3. to serie failure!

This "attack" to muscles (brain) will prevail your organism to change your physis...

So if u will go to sleep without seeing goban after closing your eyes, it is still bad! :)

If you have the time, play out pro games, try to see why they move where they do, you could also look at the board and guess where the next move would be, then see if you're right.

Someone told me that if you only have 30 minutes a day to study go, it is better to do 50 easy problems than one hard problem.

Of course, i'm 15k here, so i'm not following my own advice :)

You are approaching this wrong. Studying difficult problems (such that you can only do a few each day) is boring. And I doubt it will do anything to improve your Go.

Instead you can improve by solving (not studying, solving) easy life-and-death problems. Find some problems that are easy enough that you can solve most of them in less than 20 seconds. Do lots of them. Whenever you fail to solve one in 20 seconds, look up the answer, understand it, and move on.

Nick is correct. Some problems can be so difficult and boring that we get discouraged, and that even pros cannot see and solve if these problems really appear in the real-life games. (They may be able to solve these problems if they are forewarned that, yes, there is something going on there)

Have a nice weekend, you all. :)
