an A/Q game everybody can play

Public forum discussion.

#1 · Tim Shih

23 Sep 2007

Inspired by the success of “Add To The Storyâ€, I am proposing a game in this thread with rules specified as follows:

\* Anybody is welcome to join and play by placing a move.

\* A move is defined as (1) providing an answer to the

previous question, and (2) providing an entirely

independent new question (so that the game can be

continued).

\* Questions and answers can be serious, funny, profound,

trivial, practical, impractical, etc. But, of course,

answers must be relevant to the questions.

\* Two consecutive moves by the same player are allowed,

but not more than two, just in case the author of the

question is so itchy to answer her own question.

\* No discussions, please. Any discussions stimulated by a

particular question/answer should take place in other

threads.

\* After 3 days, if no answer is given, an answer of "I do

not know" is acceptable.

OK, let me start the first move:

Assume that the previous question was: Why is the bride crying?

A: because she cannot marry the best man.

Q: How do we screw a screw in (to the wall), while

ensuring it moves in vertically to the wall?

#2 · Ed Collins

24 Sep 2007

A: Just don't give it to a homosexual... because we know they can't screw straight.

Q: Why DIDN'T the chicken cross the road?

#3 · Eduard

24 Sep 2007

A: because it was born on RIGHT side of the road.

Q: why men can't understand women?

#4 · MichaeI X

24 Sep 2007

A: Nobody understands women.

(Even women don't, but they won't tell that)

Q: whats wrong with me?

#5 · Tim Shih

24 Sep 2007

A: because others are sleeping, and you are the only one who is awake.

Q: Why can't women understand men? (in honor of Eduard's question)?

#6 · Paavo Pirinen

24 Sep 2007

A: They're thinking too hard.

Q: What question would not be suitable to this thread?

#7 · Tim

24 Sep 2007

A: I don't know.

Q: What question would be suitable to this thread?

#8 · klaashaas

24 Sep 2007

A: The next one.

Q: Chess or Go?

#9 · Greck

24 Sep 2007

A: Hex

Q: Should I?

#10 · Ed Collins

24 Sep 2007

A: No, you shouldn't.

Q: If it's zero degrees outside today and it's supposed to be twice as cold tomorrow, how cold is it going to be?

#11 · Abigail

24 Sep 2007

A: Maybe.

Q: Given a pocket knife, a small plastic bag, a birch twig, two small unicorn hairs, a thumb tag and three angry armoured guards rapidly approaching around the corner, how do you convince the empirer his daughter should be married off to you?

#12 · FatPhil

24 Sep 2007

A: Temperature isn't a measurement of cold, but a measurement of heat. So we don't know how cold it is, only how hot it is, and thus don't have enough information to answer the question.

Q: Am I right in thinking that this is the question to which Abigail's post was a response, such that the thread should continue with her question?

#13 · Paavo Pirinen

24 Sep 2007

A: Maybe not.

Q: Given a pocket knife, a small plastic bag, a birch twig, two small unicorn hairs, a thumb tag and three angry armoured guards rapidly approaching around the corner, how do you convince the empirer his daughter should be married off to you?

#14 · Tim Shih

24 Sep 2007

A: I will convince him by announcing that the knife symbolizes my courage, the bag my wisdom (a bag of tricks), the twig my romantic mind (sitting with his daughter under the birch tree often), and unicorn hair my rigorousness (even the small hair I can scrutinize) so that his daughter will live happily ever after if she marries me.

Q: Is zero a singular or a plural? (in honor of Ed's question)

#15 · Abigail

24 Sep 2007

A: Plural (just ask IEEE).

Q: How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

#16 · MichaeI X

24 Sep 2007

A: Fischer's Fritz fischt frische Fische

Q: Why is I-triple-E and their zero plural only?

(I thought it was much more than that?)

#17 · Tim

24 Sep 2007

A: Why not?

Q: Is it a good idea to answer every questions in this game with "Why not?"?

#18 · Paavo Pirinen

24 Sep 2007

A: Why, it's not.

Q: If one, while writing here, answers to a question with a question, shouldn't that question count as the question of that post?

#19 · Tim Shih

24 Sep 2007

A: probably not if we like to have fun, maybe not if we like to learn, most likely not if we like to be enriched, and definitely not if we like to be inspired.

B: What is the difference between "distinct" and "distinctive"?

#20 · Tim

24 Sep 2007

A: "ive".

B: Is strictly formal argumentation apropriate?

#21 · maraca

24 Sep 2007

A: Depends.

Q: What are you doing naked in the garden?

#22 · FatPhil

24 Sep 2007

A: Sex. (Empathy rules evidently apply here too)

Q: I don't even have a window box, let alone a garden - where the heck am I!

#23 · Abigail

25 Sep 2007

A: You are in a twisty maze of little passages, all alike.

Q: With your bare hands?

#24 · MichaeI X

25 Sep 2007

A: Safer Sex requires gloves. Anything else can be done with bare hands.

Q: What's the best tool to use?

#25 · Eduard

25 Sep 2007

A: the knife. it can be used like a screwdriver, hammer, cutting tool, weapon, pointing device, drawing device etc.

Q: Who is Santa Claus?

#26 · Henrik Sjøl

25 Sep 2007

A: The father of Mary Christmas.

Q: What's the meaning of life?

#27 · duvelman

25 Sep 2007

A: Life is a game.

Q: What are the rules of life?

#28 · Tim Shih

25 Sep 2007

A: Many players can join to play.

Q: Who will win?

#29 · bennok

25 Sep 2007

The rules of life seem to be that any stated rule will automatically be broken.

Which makes it a much harder game than chess or go.

Do any of you, know the answer to the Question about Life the Universe and Everything?

#30 · ypercube

25 Sep 2007

A: Yes, any of us knows.

Q: What is that answer?

#31 · MarleysGhost

25 Sep 2007

A. The answer is 43.

That's easy. The hard part is

Q. What is the question to which 43 is the answer?

#32 · Greck

25 Sep 2007

A: What is the answer?

Q: When did Cromwell won the war?

#33 · bennok

26 Sep 2007

Not 43. Maybe 49...

What Century?

#34 · Judy

29 Sep 2007

A. Cromwell won the conquest of Ireland (1649-53)

Q. What should you be doing instead of this?

#35 · Tore S

29 Sep 2007

A: Read history.

Q: Is a zebra black with whites stripes og white with black stripes?

#36 · Tim Shih

29 Sep 2007

A: black stripes on white background (I had to find your answer from the wikipedia)

Q: Why are lions color-blind?

#37 · Judy

30 Sep 2007

A. To protect the zebra. If a zebra is standing still in a field of tall grass, a lion may overlook it completely.

Q. Why do you ask?

#38 · MichaeI X

30 Sep 2007

A: That's the rule here

Q: Do you believe in Judy's explanation?

Or why are zebras black and white, instead of Brown/Yellow ?

(Which would allow lions to enjoy color tv and still not risk obeseness)

#39 · MarleysGhost

30 Sep 2007

A. No, I don't. If lions are color blind it's because, as carnivores, they derive no benefit from being able to distinguish ripe fruit from unripe fruit.

Q. Why do dogs like to stick their heads out car windows?

#40 · MarleysGhost

30 Sep 2007

A. Because it makes them better hunters.

Q. What? What do car windows have to do with hunting?

#41 · MarleysGhost

30 Sep 2007

A. It would be more obvious if you knew more about lions.

Q. What? What do lions have to do with dogs, hunting, and car windows?

#42 · MarleysGhost

30 Sep 2007

A. Lions, when they hunt, pay no attention to the wind. To the detriment of their hunting success, they're as likely to approach their prey from upwind as downwind. Dogs, since they enjoy the feel of the wind on their faces, would naturally, when they go out to hunt, tend to go into the wind, thus approaching any prey that they happen upon from downwind. (On the way back to the den, the good feeling of a full belly makes up for the lack of wind-in-the-face.)

Q. Who has a better answer and question?

#43 · MichaeI X

30 Sep 2007

A: Probably nobody. A very nice sequence, thanks. Yes, I asked my dog: She simply loves fresh air blowing into her face. She does not think about the advantage of noticing the prey earlier than being noticed by the rabbit.

Rather opposite, the rabbit has to move, to become interesting. But, as rabbit hunting is forbidden theoretically, she prefers wind-in-the-face over alarming-the-rabbits: Come on let's hunt!

BTW: She finds color tv boring, even Dolby Sound does not make it really better.

Q: Anyone another good Question?

#44 · Robin

30 Sep 2007

A: I have one.

Q: Do lions have cones in their retina or only rods?

#45 · Tore S

30 Sep 2007

A: Who cares

Q: Can you cry under water?

#47 · Judy

1 Oct 2007

A. I'm guessing you do.

Q. Can anybody fully explain that brown-eyed/blue-eyed puzzel?

#48 · Ryan

3 Oct 2007

A: It's a husky

Q: Winning Lotto Numbers?

#49 · KPT

4 Oct 2007

A: we need to consult in a new round of GoE : "Winning lotto numbers?"

Q: who is going to answer next?

#50 · pensando

4 Oct 2007

Me, Sure :)

How many of you have slept more than 7 hours?
