Greater complexity under PP rules

For those who are unaware of the difference, under PP rules (which is what this server uses) links are never removed, and your own links are allowed to cross each other.I was under the impression that standard rules are "better in every way" than PP rules. What I mean is, positions are more complicated, which I regard as an improvement.

In general, in terms of local tactics, that might be true. But of course, the difference in the outcome of one local battle can affect the entire board position. In the following position, I had just played L15, and I thought I had a relatively easy win. But I was thinking in terms of standard Twixt, a big mistake.!http://cf.geekdo-images.com/images/pic2221874.png! surprised me with M17!!http://cf.geekdo-images.com/images/pic2221875.png!Now my "simple" win is turned into a much more complicated position. Objectively, I believe my best hope is for a draw. You can see some analysis of the game here still prefer standard rules, though. Of course, if we had been playing under standard rules, Maciej would not have entered this variation in the first place.

BTW I know there is a way to embed a board position image in my post, but I did not see that info as I was typing this. Even better would be an icon on the format line, along with the other format buttons, to embed an LG position.
