Whell, that was... strange

Public forum discussion.

The red player here had lost almost all his other games in the tournament by timing out; thus, in a way, given the other players an advantage. From my point of view it is then only natural to play on and hope that one can get the same advantage.

Because there was a chance his opponent would mess up or not respond in time :)

Luka, don't you think that you could ask about it players who are involved in the situation? In your opinion is it "polite" to write about it in the forum first?

Well, I agree with Luka that the game is very strange and it should be shared. This isn't a private game but a championship game. Players, especially ypercube, should explain it. Why wouldn't he play the winning and ending move twice when he could? Very suspicious and this is a public rated game, so it concerns every player rated on LG.

No, there's no need to explain anything. The game certainly looks strange but it is unknown why they played the way they did, maybe they were holding a conversation thus delaying the game to keep the convo going or something like that — whatever it is, it certainly doesn't concern anyone. Ypercube lost to everyone in the championship alike which doesnt cause any harm to the tournament system and as long as that's the case he can lose whatever he wants to even if it were purposely done. Timing out just happens sometimes and is not something you need to explain yourself for... that would be really annoying.

Manipulating game's score is dishonorable. That's all.

Ok, you can think what you want, but I still think you could find out much more about the situation if you ask directly me or ypercube. But if you want to suppose and to have your own ideas about it - that's not my worry...

Lukasz taught you a lesson.

OK, let me explain this.

First, I lost 3 or 4 games of the championship very early. As I've decided to withdraw from future tournaments for the next year or so, I thought of resigning in all the remaining games, so I don't give unfairly advantage to any player.

But some games had already interesting positions, so I decided to continue playing and resign when the outcome was clear. I messaged Lucasz at move 39:

> I’m not sure for the outcome of this game but please don’t resign – if it’s obvious and I win. I lost 4 games in this tournament on time and it seems fair that I resign all the rest.

> I intent to not play in the next championship anyway.

and he replied:

> Well, it’s kind of you, but why do you have to lose your ranking points if you have the win (I suppose)? This time you’re better (I suppose) and it will be fair if you finish the game with a move, not with a resign ;-)

I said:

> Yes but it’s not fair to you and the other 3 players I’m still playing against. While the 4 that I lost on time, have an unfair advantage over the 4 of you.

and Lucasz:

> OK, so it’s up to you, but believe me, it is not necessary. Anyway, I would appreciate it ;-)

My intention was to warn all my opponents. I didn't because the game against Frode was already in a bad shape and I resigned that a few moves later. The other games were not progressed.

Later I lost two games on time, the one with Lucasz and another one, so I just resigned the last game (with Jonathan).

I don't think there needs any more explanation. Even if I had made the winning move, the tournament had progressed and Lucasz would be first anyway.

So, LG Jury accept this version? Guilty or not? :D Just ask, do not speculate and accuse.

Congratulations to Lucasz and Frode for their 1st and 2nd ranks.

Good luck to them in the next 1st league championship (if they play in it).

Maybe people can forget the former discussion.
