And now it's already over. Frode, Jan Arild, Taral, Harald and me met yesterday for a small tournament, where everyone played everyone once. In the end, Frode and I each got 3 points, Taral and Jan Arild got 2 points, while Harald got 0 points. It was a nice evening, and I hope it won't be too long until next time.
We played games of 20 minutes, with the count down starting after 3 seconds. (Frode had a name for this kind of time management, but I don't recall it. Sarkowski time, or something like that?)
Shortest game (in time): Jan Arild must have made an early blunder in the game against me, because the game seemed rather hopeless for him after a very short time, and trying the only viable path, it was soon obvious that it was lost.
Longest game (in time): With less than a minute left for both players, Frode had a winning position against Jan Arild. Pressed for time, he made a serious blunder. However, Jan Arild, equally pressed for time, failed to exploit the error, and Frode ended up winning the match after all.
My perhaps most interesting game was against Taral. I wish I could reconstruct the position where I spent around eight minutes thinking before making my move. It was a complex situation, and I could see no winning paths, but it somehow felt like there should be one. I ended up losing that one. In my game against Frode, it seemed to me like he had the best position at an early point, but we got into an intriguing endgame, which I won - and I think at that point, it would have been won regardless of Frode's moves, but obviously I don't know for sure.
Just too bad we weren't more players - you should have been there! :-)
