I already know about yahoo but besides that site, are there any others where people actual play on a fairly regular basis?

There are some variants of Dots and Boxes at Gold Token:
6x6 dots/8x8 dots/11x11 dots and 14x14 dots.
As a non-paying member one is limited to the number of games (and possibly moves) one can play each day. :)

Actually , the sizes are 5x5, 7x7, 10x10 and 13x13 (if I'm counting correctly.)
I don't think there is a limitation on the number of moves, but there is on the total number of ongoing games and on the allowed variations for non-paying members.

5x5, 7x7, 10x10 and 13x13 are the sizes in squares. I wasn't sure if people here prefer to think of the boards in terms of dots or squares. Thinking in squares seems easier to me.
I forgot about the allowed variants: Gold Dots (10x10 squares) is the "standard version" at GT which can be played by anyone with a Wood membership (you have to register but that level of membership is free - I think you get about 15 games at any one time).
There are some other variants too, but these vary from Dots and Boxes by more than just the size of the board.
