go monthly championship

i tried to find a second round tournament to see when it began, as i am about to win one in dec '03. but going all the way back to jan '03, i could find no sign of one. is this because of slow players, or am i looking in the wrong place?

yep, slow players. it takes a while for these to get to a second round. keep going back and you will find one.

i have gone back to jan 1999, and still havent found a second round in progress. surely games cant regularly take 5 years?

The most recent monthly tournament where the second round started is August 2003.

For 19x19 Go, monthly tournaments started in November 2002, where did you look for 1999?
