this is my first time of playing chess on the net. a friend of mine says that this is just a computor program to act like people. I hope you are real people but if you are just a computer program then I will never know.

If You are a average club player (Elo about 1800) You can see the difference between human and ai chess in most cases at least after two or three games.

This program does far more than beat people at chess. It beats them at Go, even beating dan-graded players in even games, which no other Go-playing program can do by a long way. And it hides it existence by posting stupid messages, pretending that they are from people.

I'm not stupid and am sorry that you put yourself above me. JUST THOUGHT I WOULD ASK A STUPID QUESTION.

We are all real people, 7ens. *bleep*
There are very few people that use computer programs. The current reversi championship, however, is ruined by it as we speak.

thank you for your nice reply. this site should be fun.

It is a great site, and you should be able to find great gamers here. The webmaster recently made some changes and now littlegolem flies again!
Anyone know where to buy bumberstickers with "I love LittleGolem.net"? :-)

Dear 7ens,
I intended to imply that my own message was stupid. I may accidentally have implied that I think you are a very clever computer program (I don't think that). I certainly did not mean to imply that you are stupid.

no problem

Indeed computerplay is easy to determine. But what about strong human players who use some computer aid for a few moves troughout the game. I really doubt someone could see that...
23 Feb 2004
No, there is no way one could notice. And if one notices, there is no way to get a 100% proof :-(. Most players (in reversi, where we currently have this problem) know eachother either from live tournament play or from intensive internet play. I can't imagen one of them breaking the rules. They simply love the game too much for doing that.

To avoid computer programs that play or help people, you could play games with a less known winning theory, like hex, or maybe twixt (don't know if there are strong programs to play twixt). Forget Reversi, winning theory is completed.

That is not exactly uplifting for those of us who like the games in which computers happen to be better than most humans. In addition to Othello ("Reversi"), there are strong programs in Chess, Dvonn, Amazons, probably 4-in-a-row and possibly Go-moku. I guess we can only hope that the cheaters lose interest eventually - 'cause where is the excitement?! :-|

If someone uses a program to beat me - allright! We all could raise our chess rating to 2500 with Fritz or Shredder. Anyone who wants to operate some artificial intelligence is free to do so. Nobody's to blame, if he likes to win. And nobody's to blame, if he tries to develope software. I like to have fun by learning - and it's honorable to learn with the help of programs. I did play all my street soccer games against loco-ai and hope it will come back to the waiting room!

You can play with loco-ai, if you invite it in menu New Games --> Invite!. Then just fill name loco-ai, choose soccer and send invitation. I play with loco-ai my first game and I am really suprised how is it good. Thank you Ronald.
