How can na-wspak's clock not have expired in this game? He was down to 2 hours this afternoon, and he got another vacation day. It's been his turn since Dec. 15 and he hasn't logged in since Dec 14, so he must have been being charged a vacation day each day in 2004.

Perhaps extra vacation days were added during the Christmas-New Year period?

I just had a game that timed out today - 30 days after my opponent's timer first ran out. I thought for a while it was going to be a neverending game.

Any game that hadn't timed out before New Years would take until at least 1/22 to time out. (That's assuming there are still really 21 vacation days per year, like there were last year, rather than the 20 that the documentation says.)

But any player who was already on vacation when 2004 started and hasn't moved since should have had his/her last vacation day charged on the 21st, and then had her/his clock wind down in each game. That's why I'm puzzled why na_wspak got an extra 24 hours on the 22nd.

Recently the system has been "clogged" a few times (meaning, no new tournaments start and no vacation days are added). When the "clog" is fixed, the vacation days of the players on negative time are not added simultaneously; the process can take up to an hour if the clog has been long. I had half a dozen games in which my opponents kept timing out at about the same time every day, but at one point a new clog started right in the middle and lasted about 16 (?) hours. This delays the games since the time is set to 24 (or 25) hours instead of having that amout added to the negative time. Later there was another clog that put these games about 22 hours behind the other ones. Last night at about midnight (CET) the three games that had escaped those clogs finished, and I expect that quite a few games will finish at about 22:00 toinght (CET). (I guess that wasn't a very clear explanation but at least you have my conclusion...) P.S.: I am not sure if there are 20 or 21 vacation days in effect; the delays beyond 20 days could also come from the clogs.

Thanks. That's the part I didn't know.

There were definitely 21 days in effect for at least the later part of last year. One could go down to -1 vacation days remaining without forfeiting any games.
