an easy way to record my games

i just got this program (go game assistant 7.10) so i can get my games and other recorded.

is there an easy way to record your games but not by "play by play".

i mean, to transfer the games i played at little golem directly to my program.

Over by the list of moves, there is a link that says "TXT." If you right-click on that link and select "Save link as...," you will be able to save the file to your computer. Be sure to name it something ending with ".sgf" so that your other program will recognize it.

This is, of course, presuming that the program you have is using SGF format, but that is what most Go-related programs use, so you shouldn't have any problems.

That depends upon a combination of the server's (in this case, LittleGolem's) game record and the way your program handles it.

LittleGolem does not include the HA[] field in its SGF files, so you may need to edit the SGF file (e.g with WordPad) to insert it (e.g. after the SZ[] field). If, for example, the handicap is nine stones, you would enter:

HA[9]

into the file.

Next, it depends upon how your program handles the HA[] field. Some programs ignore it, but others will place the proper number of stones in their standard locations. Perhaps some programs have it as an option you can set. If that doesn't work for you, the only other way that I know would be to add the necessary moves for black at the beginning of the move portion of the file.

You'll also need to edit the text to include the komi. I don't know what the sgf format for that is, but I know Little Golem leaves it out.

Is there a way to indicate Little Golem's nonstardard 3-stone handicap arrangement?

Correct komi for handicap games is 0.5 (ties on the board go to White).

I haven't seen a three-stone handicap game on LG, but, I'm guessing it is lower-left, upper-right and center. If that is true, use:

HA[3]KM[0.5]AB[dp][pd][jj]

AB is the directive that sets the position of handicap stones. You specify all stones with one directive.

Little Golem also has an initial null move for Black B[] which should be removed. Unfortunately, when you do that the move count on your corrected record will now be one off from that on the LG interface.

Yes. Don't use panda egg. Try cgoban (http://kgs.kiseido.com/).

UGF was invented a numer of years ago before unicode in order to support Japanese characters when most SGF readers assumed ASCII. Since most SGF readers now support unicode, it is no longer needed.

I also advise the use of CGOBAN.

After saving your game as SGF, you can add the handicap stones manually with CGOBAN's editing tool and change the game's informations (komi...). No need to learn the SGF syntax and edit the file manually.

CGOBAN also permits you to play real time games on KGS.

Go assistant is a different kettle of fish. Like kombigo (spelt wrong, sorry) it is designed to manage a collection of games, whereas cgoban is to review one game at once.

_PERSONALLY_ I don't feel the need to review more than one game at once, but that's just me; I know a lot of people who feel differently. For instance, if you want to memorise all of Lee Chang Hao's games, something like go assistant would be much better than cgoban.

i installed cgoban and have no problem but im having triuble to install the "java" that required cgoban.

im saving in a file called "board"...is this right?

the other thing is; have any of you are having problem to record your games from LG to your goprograms?

because i cant save correctly and i can see that the TEXT is like erase.

what are Your java problems? (Maybe You have to download it from SUN or use a magazin-cd/dvd)

Do You use Win95? Then java is not supported any more.

I use Jago for reporting my games and editing them and Cgoban for playing and replaying. Dojo is a good reading software to. (Use the link from Kogo's joseki dictionary.)

For saving LG-games to disk:

1. Open editor/wordpad or something.

2. Enter the game

3. Click txt on the right

4. Mark the txt

5. ctrl c

6. Enter the editor

7. ctrl v

8. Save to local (Keep care for the options to save the file as sgf in the end.)

Use the hints in this topic to correct komi and handicap.

This should work with multigo too.
