hi,
I want to ask whether the gain in rating of winner is equal to the lose in rating of loser?
In most of my game, it is. but not all of my games.
Public forum discussion.

Most of the time it is, but if either player hasn't completed more than a few games (that's a few games of the particular game you're playing, like Go 9x9, or Hex) than the rating changes can be different.

Also, I believe the ratings are rounded up or down. This means that if you really should get 8.5 points, for example, it might be that you seemingly gain 8 points while your opponent loses 9 points.

I see. The 2 games I recently find that rating change is not same were both against players only play about 3-4 games.
Thanks.

Maybe it's a stupid wish, but I'd like to know how many points I gained/lost in a 9x9 game. Where can I see the points of me and my opponent? kyu/dan is to coarse for me...

You can take a look at how you are ranked compared with the other players with the same kyu/dan-rating under main - list of players - go[size]. I am pretty sure the players are ranked according to the "actual" rating. It is not exact, but it's the closest you can get AFAIK.

that's a nice list! thanks.
table lines and ranking numbers would improve it's readability. also would it probably be technically easy to add the ranking points to this table. i assume administrators fear the questions arising about the figures... :)

I don't think Ryo would have trouble with question since the rating underneath the kyu's and dan are the same as in the other games....
only in GO it is tradition that you work with kyu and dan (with the difference that you can never drop in the rating: if you once earned a 5 kyu you have it for live (and can only approve to 4 kyu), and here the ratings can drop). Anyway I guess it could be done that you get you real rating, but it would be pretty un-GO-ish, in a way.
