Congratulations to Richard for crossing 100000 games played on LG! It was just about a year ago that 10000 was reached. Pretty explosive growth! I urge everyone to support the server by becoming a member.

We should put a prize for the lucky two guys who will play at the 1.000.000th game !

#3 · Robin

6 Nov 2003

If there will be such a prize, this player is really unlucky. He is in game 99999 and 100001. :)

Oops, I missed a 0 in ypercube's post.

I'm responsable for 1,9% of littlegolems games... Are there any more 'large suppliers'?

#7 · Dvd Avins

7 Nov 2003

If we're going to assign 'responsibility' for games, you should only get half for each game you're in, since there needs to be another player along with you. So that leaves klaashaas just under one percent.

Correct said.

klaashas : 1901 games

HOT_SYNC_KAREN : 1841

Jose Ma Grau Ribas : 1639

riverstone : 1472

alkosan : 984

ypercube : 926

and KAREN is just 5 months with us, so there is no much of a deal that she 'll be No1 soon.

I believe that puts me in 7th place :o)

ypercube,

You mention QUANTITY of games while neglecting QUALITY. At least one of the players you mentioned will not even resign or pass, even when there is no longer a possibility of that player's making any live groups. Even more frustrating is the fact that that player is rated 15kyu because of "wins" from when that player's opponents either timed out (from frustration, no doubt) or inexplicably resigned (e.g. when zero moves had been made in the game). Conversely, when I win a game against someone who is 18kyu, my rating rarely changes, but when I lose to someone who is 18kyu, my rating goes down, or remains at 20kyu, when my actual AGA rating is about 14kyu (although 18kyu is probably more accurate). MAYBE, if I just keep playing these games against that opponent, it will be impossible for that opponent to move at all any more. There is no doubt I will win the game, since that opponent really does not understand the game, but it will be interesting to see if my rating changes at all then.

Please ypercube, can I be in your rankinglist?? Please?

#18 · ypercube

14 Nov 2003

And Robin with 1421 games moves into 9th postion !

Sorry but I haven't much time to recalculate all others' games again.

I hope Richard will make a page with the top20 .

At the moment there are exact 111111 games. Sat 13 Dec 6:55 PM.

#20 · Ed Collins

13 Dec 2003

Anyone care to predict the date when the number of games reaches 222,222 ?

#21 · ypercube

14 Dec 2003

It took only 1 month to reach from 100 thousands to 111 thousands. I feel that it'll reach the 200 (and the 222) thousands in less than six months. The rate is growing exponentially, and when new games like streetsoccer are added the rate grows even faster. So my guess would be 222.222 by 1st of June 2004.

#22 · Ed Collins

14 Dec 2003

That sounds like a very good guess. It will be interesting to see how close you come.

#23 · Tasmanian Devil

17 Feb 2004

It has taken 66 days from 111,111 to 133,333 games (1/5 of the way).

#24 · ypercube

17 Feb 2004

Come on everyone! Lets play motre games, so we can reach 222.222 by 1st of June! Don't make me look stupid!

#25 · FC Cwali

17 Feb 2004

The site was slow some time ago. But is quick now. So maybe it's possible. But will this site stay quick then?

If Tasmanian Devil's statement is correct (and I have no reason to doubt that it isn't) then it doesn't appear as if we are going to come anywhere close to ypercube's guess of 222,222 games played by June 1st. It doesn't appear as if the rate is growing quite as exponentially as we had thought.

I think these figures are correct:

155,556 games now - 133,333 games 52 days ago = 22,223 games played during that time.

22,223 games played during that time / 52 days = 427.36 games played per day.

427.36 games per day x 52 days left until June 1st = 22,222 games total.

22,222 more games + 155,813 games now = 178,035 total games played on June 1st, which, of course, is nowhere near 222,222.

However, no one else cared to make a prediction at all, so ypercube's guess is the closest!

I think we need to average over 1,200 games played to reach 222,222 by June 1st! That seems out of the question based upon the number of games played over the past several months.

I made an estimation here. It was an estimation on what happened that month. I think the growth continued for a while, especially with the creation of the game street soccer. Still growing now but less rapidly. Or perhaps i just made a typo and meant may 2005 hehe :D.

#30 · ypercube

13 Apr 2004

2 new games have appreared at this site (reversi-10x10 and hex-19x19) and the growth has risen a bit. I think more people will find soon the new games and it may grow more but frankly the 222222 by the 1st of June is highly unprobable. My birthday is at 24th of July. It may be closer then.

#31 · Richard Malaschitz

14 Apr 2004

But hex19x19 and reversi10 are "slow games" (many moves) :(

I need some quick game :) (for statistic)

Richard Malaschitz wrote:

StreetSoccer had 20 new tournaments in the last 29 hours.

StreetSoccer plays quick. At least most of my opponents play it quick, I self think longer in 'important' matches.

I will do my best with new games. :-)

Subulata is on average more turns than StreetSoccer, and makes you think longer normally. I would like to play that game on this site too. See http://www.cwali.com/subulata/subulata.htm . It has hidden information (the numbers on your pawns which are points at the end when it reached the end tile), which is a differense to the other games here.

One of the next Cwali-games seems to be perfect for a computer-version. But the release of that 2-player-boardgame will be probably in october. Not in time for Ypercube's prediction. :-) It's a fantastic game. Promissed. ;-)

I gave permission for StreetSoccer on this site when Richard said this site is free and without advertisements.

What do I see now????? Google-ads?????

#39 · ypercube

9 Jul 2004

So, another 45 days (for the 222.222 games) is more like 24th of August and not 24th of July as I had predicted. Lets see.

#40 · ypercube

3 Sep 2004

It's 3rd of September and we are reaching 222222 games. We have less than 60 to go, so it will probably be today, unless Richard doesn't return from vacation or noone starts unrated games.

#41 · Tasmanian Devil

3 Sep 2004

Yes, so that's 56 days since 200,000 games, which is longer than the other 22,222-games-intervals after 133,333 games. It is of course mainly due to the long periods recently with no new tournaments being started when they should, but I think geometric growth over a long period of time was a bit unrealistic anyway. Oh and I'll stop counting the days now, in case you worried. :-)
