When I view the participants of the first league in the fifth amazons championship I wonder if there are any clear rules for who moves up and who moves down in the championships. I tried looking at the FAQ but it does not cover the situation encountered here. Maybe this have been explained before, but I haven't found any info on this in the forum yet (only looked through a couple of pages though).
First, when does a player with a high rating get a free place in the first league?
Are the first 5 players in a league always sure of a place in the same league next championship?
When a league have been extended with more players, how many players move down?

I think the free place for players in the top 10 rankings, was ment to cover a situation in the hex championship, I dont think it was ment to became common to every games championship.

Micky: I think the top10 free place will be used in all games. At least it have been applied in the 19x19 go tournament, the hex tournament and now in the amazons tournament.
By the way, I found a clarification in the hex forum about this situation.
Richard: Could you clarify this on the FAQ as well?

Quoting Richard:
Algorithm for championship is simple:
Create list of participants where are all players who registered for next championship
From this list are abolished inactive players
Players which are in TOP10 and they are in participants and they never play in 1st league are
moved from participants to participants_1st_league
Top5 players from 1st league are moved from participants to participants_1st_league
Top2 players from 2st league are moved from participants to participants_1st_league
If in participants_1st_league is less than 9 players, players are added from 1st league (6th,7th,...etc)
Other players from 1st league are moved from participants to participants_2nd_league
etc for others leagues..
