Formatted Names

I've notices that a few plaeyrs have started formatting their names by making HTML tags part of the name they enter on their profile pages. One thing they and others who want to send messages (outside of games) to them should note:

The normal way of sending messages won't work. That's because the name as stored by the system includes the HTML. So, using square-brackets instead of angle-brackets so you can actually see it, if I made my name blue the name would be

[font color=blue]Dvd Avins,/font]

and that's the name you would need to send to. You can get that name (assuming you're not using WebTV) by going to the player's profile page, View Source in IE (or the equivalent in your browser, find where the name (not the login, which is sometimes the same) and copying it. THEN, click Send Message on the profile page and try to send your message. When you click Send, you'll get another page asking for the name to send it to. Paste in what you've copied and click Send again.

Given all that complication, and given that one player seft out the last ">" from his name and temporarily messed up the formatiing on the Tournaments page (and players could make mistakes like that, too), I suggest that unless it's really important to you, you refrain from using HTML tags in your names.

Guilty.

I have stopped doing it now.
