When it's your turn, you move one of your pieces (which moves like a chess queen), and it then fires an arrow (which also moves like a chess queen, starting from the piece that fired it). Where the arrow lands, the square is destroyed and becomes impassable.
If you can't move, you lose.
Strategy involves walling up your opponent's pieces so that they have few or no moves, and ensuring that your own pieces do not get walled up into small spaces.

http://home.snafu.de/frs/amazons.html
includes
\* an animation (the Amazong applet by Jens Lieberum) to demonstrate typical Amazons games, and
\* a collection of Amazons links.

That last link has most of the text balck on black (at least in my browser). Select All (Ctrl-A) to read the text.

One of my browsers shows black-on-black text, the other gets referred to a page
http://home.snafu.de/frs/lib/lib-amazons.js which does not exist.

hehe... Mozilla on Linux sees http://home.snafu.de/frs/amazons.html as completely blank... source is . What does that MEAN?

(I know perfectly well what means. But what does it mean on a higher level?)

Oh dear... I'm sorry for spamming, but I just realized that littlegolem doesn't filter out html. The source was (html)(body)(/body)(/html).
