Abstract Play

Hello abstract enthusiasts, I just wanted to give a shout out to another gaming website called Abstract Play. It has a few similar games as LG (amazons, lines of actions, Fendo ect..) but also has lots of others (cannon , murus gallicus, Adere , just to name a few.

There is an active community on the discord and if you can code you can add your own games to the site as well. It has a couple of nice features such as an "explore" button than lets you actually see a string of moves before you submit your final move".

Check it out.

I’d recommend Adere, it’s the most played game , and has a lot of depth involved.

It’s a connection based game where pieces can “leap” onto adjacent opponents pieces of equals heights. (a single piece can jump on the top piece of another, only the top piece of a 2 stack leaps onto the top of another 2 stack thus reverting one stack to a single piece and the other as a 3 stack)

I didn't want to recommend this site too much, but since Hunter brought it up, great site! Worth your time, wide variety of games available!

What is your username on that site? Bao tournament already started but someone just suggested another one with some sort of variant (i've never played before)

I'm SylvanRat there. I've never played Bao before, but I've wanted to for a while. I signed up for a bunch of tournaments for games I've not played before, so I'm being a bit slow, hurriedly learning the rules before I make my first moves.

I see (and joined) the second tournnament; it looks like Bao la kujifunza (which, like all Swahili words, is SO FUN TO SAY, and looks like it's roughly Swahili for 'learning Bao') seems to be a simplified version, skipping the setup phase of adding stones and just playing with what's on the board like most other Mancala games (Oware, Omweso, Togyzqumalaq, etc).

I hope nobody sees my updates for another site as trying to steal people away from LG. Just want to share another place to play to help keep our love for all of these niche games alive. Both sites have plenty of room for more players.

Few new updates.
Twixt was just added in sizes 24x24 and 30x30 with the traditional rules (ability to remove pegs) and pencil and paper rules.
Amazons had two new starting set up variants (cross and scrambled) as well as automatic territory counting once amazons become isolated.
Dameo recently added.

Hnefetafl and many of its variants have been implemented added as well.
