"time for players"... what does it mean?

Public forum discussion.

Hi everyone,

I play Hex and there's something I don't understand:

Beside the hexboard, I can see written "time for players" followed by 2 numbers.

On my last game, the first day, the numbers were 227/240 if I remember well.

Later they became 230 something/240 and now they are 240/239. What do these numbers mean???

Thanks by advance.

Hours on the clock of each player.

When you make a move, 36 hours are added to your side of the clock, up to 240.

ok... Is there a way to change that setting? Ten days per move...

also 20 days of vacation can be added to all games

also "Members have 30 days of vacation instead of 20"

But... isn't it possible to choose 24h / move?

It isn't 10 days per move.  It's an average of 36 hours per move, with 10 days "grace".  (Plus, as someone pointed out 20-30 days of vacation per year.  Each time you run out of time in ANY of your games, if you have a vacation day left, 24 hours gets added to your clock in ALL of your active games).

And, no, you can't choose anything else.  That is the only time control here.

That's how it used to work for me. But in my "Unexplained Timeouts" thread I explained I'm losing games when the clock hits zero even though I have vacation days left. It must be only me because no one else has mentioned it.

Rex's timeout's  ('s's's'h)

could be rated games vs unrated

or tournament vs non-tourney
