Veletas has been describe as amazons in reverse.
Veletas is played on a 10x0 board with 7 neutral shooters. These shooters behave in the same way as an amazon does in the game of amazons with two exceptions. A shooter can shoot without moving and a shooter can be moved by either player. However the arrows they shoot are very different. Just like amazons the arrows can not be moved, moved thru or shot over. These arrows however do belong to the player that shot them. Orthogonal placed arrows form chains belonging to the specific player.
The goal of the game is to immobilize a shooter and claim it. To immobilize a shooter it must be either surrounded by arrows, by shooters or both. It is claimed by the player who has the largest chain touching (orthogonality) it when it becomes immobilized. A tie goes to the player who didn't move the amazon. First person to claim 7 of the 4 shooters win. There is no ties.
Amazons uses player controlled "shooters" with neutral arrows. Veletas uses neutral shooters and played owned arrows. To me veletas feels like go mixed with amazons.
