I seem to be among the "special ones" who score (relatively) well against EWN bots. So NaiveChild invited me to play some more games to better judge my strength. Of course I couldnt resist this offer. And I am curious who keeps me company... So who else is considered "special"? ;)

Hi, most special was Luiser some years ago.
She beat Hanfried (a bot similar to NaiveChild) by 272-173,
all 445 games playes within 60 minutes in front of a computer screeen.

You can find luiser's scoring against all bots in my profile.

Hm, being nr 44 on the list does not make me feel that special :(. However, in one of the october mc's i am leading 2-0 against naive child ;-)

But Luiser, 445 games in 60 minutes, that means more then 7 games per 60 seconds? That really is quite impressive!

Paul, you are special player. You'll see that in the following weeks. You should be one of the best 20 actives. The most players on that list are not playing anymore.
You are also disadvantaged in comparison to some others because you had to learn this game first when you started playing here.
The following players had not to learn this game on LG. They already knew it before (from another website).
They started already as experts: luiser, Telestes, kitaktus, Theo van der Storm, YHW, Jonny, opmp, John-Marc 'Johnny' McGregor
Players who had to learn this game first can catch up the distance to these players only by playing more games after they have found the stone of wisdom (with respect to the game).

Hi Paul,
> But Luiser, 445 games in 60 minutes, that means more then 7 games per 60 seconds?
right. And the bot took clearly more than 50 % of that time.
(The bot used Monte Carlo with 2048 simulation games for each move.)
One of my assistants formulated it this way:
"Luiser ist anders verdrahtet."
Roughly translated to English: Luiser is differently wired.
Ingo (was the only witness of that 60-minute session).
PS. If I would have to set up a counting team for Casino Blackjack,
Luiser would be my frontperson.

Looks like I'm also somehow in despite my sub-1800 rating. I'm insanely inconsistent at EWN by the way.

I think, humans play all a bit 'variable' over the years. Once, I resigned all of my EWN-games (50 approx.) on a business trip out of frustration because I was simply over-worked.
You should forget about the EWN-rating system here.
If you prefer a higher rating position. You should play these games only with the highest number of single matches. You simply have to wait and play as slow as you can at every game. The most people are not longer active than the typical duration of a 19-points-match.
Take a look at the infinity tournaments with the highest number of matches (19 and 50). The players on top position gained 100% of their points by time-outs. Those tournaments are a bit like a points-for-free-generator. Every 'newbie' in these tournaments is a point donator. The most forget to resign from it before they quit playing on LG in general.

Ingo, what a great line: "If I would have to set up a counting team for Casino Blackjack, Luiser would be my frontperson." My smile for the day!
Can I ask what this talented person is doing these days to make a living?

I don't know if a public forum is the right place to talk about the job/life of somebody who's not involved into a discussion...

... and mystery suits girls (I guess) very well ;)
But Luiser if you are here, please come and tel us how you get this feel for the game and the players.
It is the person here I fear the most as I get the feeling of my mistakes being exploited, which does not happen against the bots yet.

Hi,
I will give no more details here on the person in question.
But, Richard, when you come to Jena again in your next sabbatical,
I promise to tell you stories abouot my former students for
a whole night and a half.
Cheers, Ingo.

Mais qui est cet enfant ? ;)
Is it really naive?

One more comment on Richard's posting.
> "If I would have to set up a counting team for Casino Blackjack,

Years ago, Beate and me watched a film in TV. One central
person was a math prof abusing his best students for Blackjack
counting. At some point, one of the students was unmasked
and brought to a backroom of the Casino. There he was
beaten. Beate watched - without any comment.
Then, near the end of the film, the prof himself was unmasked,
brought to a backroom of the Casino, and severely beaten.
Beate's immediate comment: "Do not try such coups
with your students!"
By her timing I realized: Beate is still in love with me ;-)
Ingo.

What happened to naive_child? I am not challenged anymore for testgames...
