Use this forum to discuss Hjallti's interesting game.

(You can't use the actual forum, since that will alter your score, perhaps undesirably!)

The object, if it isn't already obvious, is to attempt to figure out how the scoring is determined.

I couldn't help but notice ypercube's score decreased from

(3 + 12.5 + 0.3 + 10 + 10.3 = 36.1)

to

(3 + 10.3 + 1 + 10.3 = 24.6)

despite the fact that he didn't post anything after his first post!

I think this indicates either (1) other posts can influence your own score or (2) your score decreases over time or (3)... ?

As of right now I don't have a clue as to what is going on!

I know we have some pretty bright members here. Someone should be able to figure this out, before the game ends, I'd like to think.

@Ed you do realize however that if one us solves the puzzle, he may want to keep the advantage and not reveal it until theend of the game :)

It is a fun idea, which has sparked some interest with a lot of people, that is for sure. It could be a running thing where the winner makes the next game (decides on a scoring scheme).

You can also notice that you are least need to post one time to alter your score.

@ ypercube... Oh, certainly, but it might be just as much fun, if not more so, to collaborate "as a team" and discuss ideas openly.

PCGSE is clear, but H, M, L and S needs more experiments!

@Ed Collins: (3) The total number of players affect your score. The first result has only 4 players, so the numbers are divided by 4 (I guess), but the second result was divided by 10, and the third by 14, and so on!

Good work.

And yes, I also believe I know what PCGSE is.

Well, my stupid guess had killed it before you posted the last post. I thought PCGSE is clear, but I was totally wrong. Actually I gave up thinking, and waiting for 24th. of June to know the rules :)

I too might be wrong about PCGSE. (Well, I think I have an idea but I don't how how it's implemented, if that makes any sense.)

It's funny that the discussion in here is infinitesimal, compared to the discussion in the actual game thread.

@ypercube: It became clear at some point that, as long as you were talking about the game, you could usually at least not *hurt* your score, and usually helped at least a little. At that point, I think people became much more willing to post in the actual game thread. (Just watch out for those consecutive posts!)

Yes, it turned out this entire thread was not necessary. Oh, well.
