Havannah, Connect6, and Dots-and-Boxes players may now open trmph's online tools to analyze or review games with a single click!

Thanks, Richard!

hey this is great. Makes it even easier to find the effort to analyze your games :)

Excellent !!! Thx guys.

It could be interesting to have this for Slither too (oups :p)

I was going to write a Slither analyzer, but LG's slither sgf records are missing critical move information. I could, of course, just scrape the html page to extract moves, but I would rather wait a bit till Richard fixes the SGF exporter.

Thanks, Richard! (and trmph.com, too)

The txt for a Polyomino game looks insufficient to reproduce the game's moves. :(

oh no. Can this be fixed in coorporation with Richard? :)

By the way, I see the pictures of your remaining pieces got changed so that you can see the squares. I am a big fan of this, since the 3 long and 4 long for example could be hard to distinguish.

And now it seems that the full text thingy shows all the info too, or am I mistaken? This should allow trmph.com analysis if z choses to implement it.

Richard also fixed Slither's SGF. Awesome!

That's nice! Though, as regards Slither, the SGF version still lacks the size of the board (e.g. with parameter SZ).

Polyomino SGF is also missing SZ.

Hey, it's fixed for both games! Thanks, Richard.

Thanks, Richard! While you're at it, can you also add board size information to dots-and-boxes?

#18 · MarleysGhost

My Polyomino games are showing the inventory of pieces above the board segmented into squares, but the inventory below the board are solid. This is true both for my own games, where my opponent's inventory is segmented and mine is solid, and for games where I'm not a participant.
I'd like to see my inventory segmented, too.

Is everyone else having the same experience?

The HTML draws the upper inventory using

......

but the lower inventory using

...

That is, the lower inventory has no img tags.

When I try to use the analysis board for connect six, it often brings up a position from earlier in the game instead of the current position. Has anyone else noticed this bug?

#22 · z

26 Apr 2013

@Ray: Can you show me a link that reproduces the bug? Thanks!

#23 · Ray Garrison

27 Apr 2013

the buggy link is the analysis board for connect six

most of the time I click the link, it brings up the correct position. but every now and then, it brings up a position from two half moves earlier in the game. When I get the bug, it persists no matter what I do, it can show up in firefox or google chrome. I can reboot the computer, nothing corrects the bug....except time... I can look at the same game the next day and all will be working properly. The bug is rare, but it has happened to me in two different games so far.

I can't reproduce the bug. Let me know if it happens again. Thanks!

#25 · Ray Garrison

hi Z...it is happening again to me in this game: 1524006

Are you using a proxy to connect to the internet? If so, try to play with its settings.

#27 · z

29 Apr 2013

Hi Ray, I've uploaded a new server to www.trmph.com which should have fixed the bug caused by proxy caching. Thanks for helping me track down the bug!

#28 · z

29 Apr 2013

Mirko, this bug has nothing to do with Ray's proxy setting. It was a server-side caching issue, which has just been fixed.

Z...on another note, I would love to see analysis boards for these games, which I would think should be relatively easy to implement (?) :

four in a row
slither both sizes
breakthrough

(I would personally like to see mini shogi also...)

You have done great improvements for this website, thanks for all your efforts!

@Ray: I have plans to support Slither, Breakthrough, and Polyomino (my new favorite). They are not hard to implement, but I don't have much time to work on trmph lately. Anyway, I'll announce here when more analysis tools are released.

Yay, breaktrough would be very helpful indeed :)

Don't you want to share code so that LG community can help you implement the other games?

#34 · z

29 Apr 2013

I now have an easily extensible backend written in golang, but the frontend part in TypeScript is still messy. Few components can be reused except the move list. The code base needs some serious refactoring before I feel comfortable to open source it and ask for contribution.

but it would be very nice if the community could contribute. It seems that games like mini shogi (and shogi) could be easily implemented if you did not care about the rules (just allow pieces to move anywhere) the same way it is done in chess.
