Why not a kanji set for shogi? It doesn't make sense to have only an western set available. Most shogi players would prefer to play with the traditional set. I know about the google chrome extension, but that is too restrictive and doesn't work for my android galaxy note.

I would also love to see a kanji set for shogi. I don't play it much offline and I'm afraid that I will forget the kanjis if I play it here too often.

Thanks for the support Zandor. Yet I don' t believe that nobody else would like to see this implemented. I think that if enough people show interest, the developers would consider it. How difficult can that be to substitute those figures for kanjis?
The way it is, Ãt's like having a chess site with the only option of using battlechess like pieces, or a Go set using stars instead of circles as the only single option.

Actually the Go stones here are glass, not shell. Cheap solution.

I think that if someone just 'creates' and gives Richards another set of tiles he will make the option available. (Like the different boards of hex and twixt). Maybe you should ask him via messages directly. Note that you can not pick the stones from another site and post them here as that might constitute a copyright problem.

As there is already a kanji set extension for google chrome, the images are already there. Shouldn't it be possible to use them?

I can send him a set created from scratch by me. I have adapted them for use with the google chrome extension, but they fit much more nicely on the original board I've created with greater resolution, as you can see on the links. I can send the board too, if wanted.
Original graphics.

Adapted for use with bigger golem extension.

As you can see, the original version is much nicer. There is no copyright issue as all aspects of the graphics were made by me from scratch. Obviously i used kanji photos as reference and a tatami
photo as a base to create the tatami texture.
