internet service around the world

I recently read that in terms of price and speed the U.S. has some of the worst internet service in the world. Would others be willing to share what they have? My provider has a number of options. We can get 3 mbps download and 1 mbps upload for about $45.00 / month. I have the next level up: 15 down / 1 up for $55.00. The maximum possible is 50/15 for about $100.00. How does that compare with what others get around the world?

includes Cable and Phone service. (same company)

I get 30Mbps/6Mbps for $75/mo from Comcast. 50Mbps/15Mbps would have cost $115/mo.

There is a 15 up service available for a little bit more, and I'm very tempted, but at the moment I survive. There's no fibre in our town, as you can't lay new cables, as we're a UNESCO protocted area.

In France, I have phone + TV + internet (28 Mbps) for 2€/month. It was a special offer though, after a year it will be more expensive (or I can switch to another provider).

In Korea it is quite easy to get 80 MB down for about $30 a month.

Australia 54 Mbps down for $70 per month ($70 Australian is almost the same as $70 US at present).However restricted to 50GB per month total download and upload before reduced to "dial-up" speed. Cost goes up significantly to increase download volume.

Cheaper opitons are avaailable but never as reliable.

I get it for free....just have to locate the available connections :) Fast enough to make my littlegolem moves....

The current prices in Germany are 20 EUR (26$) for 16 down and 1 up, phone included, as well as 30 EUR (40$) for 50 down 2.5 up, phone also included.

I guess you'll find one of the best price for the highest speeds anywhere in Romania...

When I came to South Korea in the year 2000, you could commonly get download 10Mb for about $30 and economy internet was about 2 Mb. When I came back to Korea in 2007 I got 80 Mb in a small village up in the mountains. I thought the reported 80 Mb sounded wrong, so I checked it. I was certainly getting over 60 Mb. I would be surprised to se any countries with faster speeds for the general population than South Korea and Japan.

But then, the Czech Republic is said to have the highest prices for cell phone calling. Every rose has its thorn, I guess. :-)

It's expensive, I know... but so is most things in Norway :-)
