Hey
I guess most players here are fans of abstract strategy games with full information, often drawless etc.
But do any of you also player the other kind of board games as a hobby? You know, the kind that involves dice, random cards hidden from the opponent, strong themes, story etc.
Personally, I play a lot of board games. I really enjoy Arkham horror, Yomi, Mice and Mystics, Puzzle strike and even smaller games like Coup and Love Letter.
What about you?

Well ... these games are used to support social interaction. Abstract strategy games are used to avoid social interaction :)

Then why do people show up in live tournaments when they can just play over the internet? ;-)

So that they can meet people without having to, or being allowed, to talk to them! ;-p

Oh, I play several games. But far too seldom, unfortunately. I play "family games" like Puerto Rico and Settlers (and several similar games). Ubongo is a really neat game to play with the kids. I used to play Bridge. I play several computer games (I particularly like the Elder Scrolls series). I play RPG, usually Rolemaster. And I play ASL (Advanced Squad Leader).
