Vacation days...

I log in to LG 2 or 3 times a day and I make sure I do not let the time remaining go below 24 hours for any of my games, yet for the last few week or so I have had one vacation day deducted almost every day - usually in the small hours of the morning. Does anyone else have this problem?

one of your chess games is low on time. make a move in that game and that should solve the problem.

you currently have 13 hours in that game. If the time in that game goes to zero, the system will automatically add 24 hours to all of your games and charge you one vacation day.

also if i have all game to 2 or 3 days, it happens

just reply to all games when you see that it is your turn, you will never use a day :)

It's definitely not that simple, thnikkaman. I had similar problems a few months back, detective. But things work ok for me now.

but how is it possible that if you have all games on 1 day or more
that you still loose a vacationday??

he doesn't loose any days

If people are losing vacation days unexpectedly, while taking moves regularly (not letting the time run to 0), then this seems to be a separate bug, which I have not run across. Hit the contact the web master link at the bottom, or wait to get more for the new year, and hope it goes away. I would recommend the first strategy.

It just happened to me ;-)

Maybe Richard is testing something new generating hidden tournaments in hidden games. These games are invisible for players and statistics but lost vacation days are real.

Hands up: Who has lost vacation days while playing uninterrupted and not dropping below 1 hour left any time in any of the ongoing games?

Noone apparently :) is there a way to see how many vacation days another player has left?

I suggested to Richard several years ago to put the number of remaining vacation days to each players's profile, and he said he thought it was a good idea, but it has still not been implemented.

Okay fair enough, it would just make it easier to get a feel of how long your might have to wait :)

Sure, I know *my* vacation days (they are always full :-P) but I would like to see my opponents' vacation days (for the reason Christian said).

you now have 20 hours. so at the time of your post 9 hours ago that should have been 29 hours. Subtracting 24 hours that you just got gives 5, which is below the 25 you said were the minimum for your games. So something is wrong here. (No idea what though.)

It happened to me too yesterday. I'm very sure I left my last game with 23 hours on the clock yesterday evening.

But I'm not considering leaving littlegolem for that:)

Groenveld, you're aware that when you get a Vacation Day, all you games get an extra 24 hours? So looking afterward doesn't give you the right number? Just making sure.

I agree, there is a problem. This bug is apparently hard to reproduce/find/fix. In stead of demanding your lost days (which you got 'for free' in the first place), you could also use the 'workaround' that I use: keep 26 hours on your clock as minimum.

That's got 7-ish hours on it. 18-ish hours ago, it would have had about 25-ish hours on it. If you've just taken a holiday day, then before the 24 hours were added onto every game, it would have had 1-ish hour on it. Looking at the margin of error in the calculations, that could be any value between 0 hours, and 2 hours. If the former, 0 hours left, what did you expect the system to do, apart from charging you a holiday day?

One thing that I sometimes do is leave a tab in my browser open to Little Golem for days at a time. If the list of games isn't explicitly refreshed, it could say "43 hours" (or whatever) for days at a time.

Phil, it's not a tab-refresh issue. I've had this too: playing until all my games had more than 24 hours on the clock, signing off and losing a vacation the next morning (7 hours later).

Workaround: keep your games clocks on >48 hours.

I just went into vacation and the game that took me into vacation had 25 hours left so shouldn't have triggered the vacation.
