What does this Infinity column means in the tournament page?

Thanks for pointing it out... I guess a ladder system...

I guess each two weeks we will be paired with the closest rival in some sense.

I hope in that case that time-out couses auto-removal

How do you make that guess Hjallti?? :-)

Yeah, the last thing we need is more opportunities for people who seem to have little interest in playing moves to be signing up for more games.

Ladders!!! awesome!

My guess is nothing more than a outside hunch.

there is the singular in the explanation below, the nature of ladders which makes the name possible (together with the impossibility for a realtime ladder) and the fact that ladders are an obvious enhancement of the site.

My second guess is that it pairs us swiss-like each two weeks and ends up with a table like those of team tournaments if you forget to tell it is a team tournament:

e.g.
team tournament represented as individual tournament

(most important is the leader of the table of course :-) )

I registered for the Hex13 infinity tournament after spotting this thread. By yesterday, 6 people had apparently signed up. Just now, the link to register (or remove oneself) for Hex13 disappeared. On the Hex13 home page, there is a column for Infinity, but the column is blank.

Simply because it has started. Either you have a game or, if the numbers of players is odd, you might have to wait 2 weeks.

Strange though that the sign up has dissapeared though...

we will see what happens. I have just moved for the first time in such a tournament

As I expected I seem to be match up with someone in the same range, which would be the case in both my hypotheses...

It seems we are match 1-6, 2-5 and 3-4 which I totally didn't expect.

As you don't appear to be playing any hex13 games, how can you be matched 1-6, 2-5, and 3-4? There's general confusion here, and it's getting worse the more people try to explain things!

Not that this really clears anything up but I signed up for slither 9x9, and my game didn't start. It may have been that it is an odd number. Can you post a link to your game Hjallti?

INFINITY is now open for all variants excepts variants played as championships. It is modified swiss tournament system. There is for example tournament table for Shogi3x4

Round starts every 14 days when there is at least 4 players in tournament.

FatPhil, I understand I confused you but because you overlooked the 'such a' in my first post:-)

very cool, richard - we all appreciate your work to improve this site!

I don't understand why the einstein games are on the tournament pages, while the other started tournaments seem to be removed. I would expect that everyone can sign up on each moment.

Richard involved one such player more specially for a psychological training of impatient persons. The player SYSTEM is paired with an odd player in INFINITY and has a lot of vacation days. :))))
