I just lost 7 games and won two due to the break/interruption of the website, thus 9 games in total. How many did you loose/win?

My games never get close enough to the time limit for me to lose them.

Again I lost no games, and even not a vacation day

I didn't lose any - and I was even on vacation!

Some people just aren't doing this "addict" thing correctly.

25. i'm always low on time and i lost my last 3 vacation days on last downtime (partial, was trying to access wrong page). it's sad since i just got into loa 1 division but i'm not complaining. i'm non paying member and while i considered purchase many times i never decided to.

So you had time to complain on the forum, but not enough time to
play any moves in any of these or any of these games? (and presumably in some other disciplines too.)

There seems to be a disconnect - in order to not time out, *you need to play moves*.

Phil, while ut.rev.643.1.3 may illustrate what you're saying, shogi.ch.4.3.2 shows "Start date" as 2012-10-12 17:26. I don't know what time zone that is (It can't be my local time zone, because it's only 16:28 here. Probably 1 or 2 hours east of Greenwich). It's now 2012-10-12 21:28 GMT, so it only started 4-6 hours ago.

Yes, this tournament just started today.
You could have noticed that he isn't the only one with 0 moves, actually, *none* of the games in the tournament table you linked has a move played as of right now.

@MarleysGhost: It actually started at 17:26 GMT, i think.

So what? He was on the site, posting to the forum, rather than playing moves.

You would only have a counterpoint with any teeth if the other participants in that group had been posting to the forum complaining about games timing out.

I'm with FatPhil on this one, you shouldn't keep your opponents waiting for no reason. If you can play your moves, you should. If you have too many games, play less.

The 240 hours you have to play your moves are also part of a protection against site downtimes. If you think the site should never go down and you can use the 240 hours as you wish, you're bound to lose games on time.

Maybe some guys don’t understand that before to make a move it’s reasonably to analyze a game deeply?

I lost 4 games in League 1 by forfeit since I had not enough time to analyze during working days and planned to do it on Saturday but the downtime occurred.

I lost also some vacation days during previous downtimes. It’s great that Richard add vacation days but he made it too late. Definitely, he could make it earlier (it was a lot of downtimes during this year) but he was stopped by the criticism after his such decision at December 2011. Some players wrote how they suffer waiting forfeits of “zombies” although it’s not the problem at all – just forget about these games. Instead of waiting of opponent’s move you can try to predict following variants and analyze it. If you don’t like to wait and to analyze then you can play at online servers with short time limit.

It’s pity to lose important games just because some impatient players unable to solve their psychological problems wrote too much at this forum.

lost 2 games 1 month ago, 2 again of recent crash (which lasted 3 days)..in all 4 games down the drain...

Summary: LG sucks

If you think LG sucks, don't use it. There are many things I wish it would do better, but on the whole, if find it's the best off for what it offers. You can form your own opinion, as there are plenty of other sites out there.

Several people, long time and well respected members of the site, have ensured that the door does hit FairyTail on her way out previously. It was because of her that Richard had to waste his time preventing the petty vandalism she performed; time that perhaps could have been spent addressing the weaknesses which Ricardo raised in this thread.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to be anti-Ricardo or anti-Xerxes here. Quite the opposite, I always particularly enjoy challenging games of Dvonn against Ricardo, so definitely appreciate his presence on the site. It's just that given that this is a known issue, people should behave more defensively, to minimise the damage it can cause.

I love LG, even though I lost 6 games due to the last crash (and won 1). I even lost a top league Havannah game with a superior position for me!

I've grown accustommed to these shortages. And I must agree with Fatphil. The solution is to play whenever you can and not to take more than you can bite.

It gives me a hard lesson every time, but I have to admit: I timeout pretty regularily even in normal conditions and usually in the games that most dear to me! And also it is difficult to keep any vacation day after march!

And I love this? Well, yes I actually do: it's only games! And whenever I forget it, and start being too darn serious about my monster rating the mysterious cyberbugs set free by the absence of our King Richard remind me!

I'm basicially in position of bennok. Can't say I blindly love LG but I love mind board games all the time. And yes I feel down about timeouting in important games and I even resigned in some because of that but new games will start and I'll do my best to win them.
