If you are new to Dots&Boxes, here’s the chain rule that you better remember for the game to make sense: In 5x5 and 7x7, the 1st player aims at even number of long chains and the 2nd player aims at odd number of long chains. In 4x4 and 6x6, it’s vice versa. A chain is long if it is at least 3 boxes. A cycle isn’t counted as a long chain.
