Can i ask, what does “Gomoku and Connect6 International Federation (GCIF)” mean?

  • Andrey at 2007-07-10

This is new organisation was organised in Russia, Tyumen. The idea is not depend on RIF. As I understand, The opinion of RIF: Gomoku and Connect6 is not serious games, such as Renju. They thoght that these games have no future. (But it's only my opinion, may be i don't understand). That is why we have got the decision to organise GCIF. Let's make Gomoku and C6 more popular -).

Renju has an over-complicated rule set, a relatively small state space, and an intrinsic nature of imbalance. It's one of the most hopeless games in the x-in-a-row family.

You are totally right about the arogance of RIF, Andrey, in their opinion a game where you don't need 10 years of heart-learning theories to become a top player, can't be a serious game :)

I was told by directors of RIF that since there's swap rule, it isn't a serious game. Bullshits, that's why far more people play gomoku, because the rules are easy and the game is more various (in compare to renju)

However, I didn't know they hate even connect6…

But why i'm writing - have you contacted any country-federations? It's nice to call it “international federation” but since there's only Russia, it's not much international…

Something likes Connect6 International Federation (C6IF)came into my opinion since 2006.anyway,the thing andrey now doing should be encourged. But how to get it better is a question that all of us may think it more.Indeed, gomoku and C6 are now both under the shadow of renju, but gomoku is much more popular than C6.So as we find this,GIF and C6IF should be two Federation.Gomoku have some different rules like renju(gomoku-LG rule((GWC rule??)),1 swap,2swap;renju-rif,sakata,yama((N)),jonsson,,,etc),only C6 now one rule! And i think the rule should not be changed. In one word,C6 is less popular but we can fight for a brighter tomorrow for it.How about other except Russia?Czech,Slovakia,Taiwan,RPC,also Spain,USA,Poland,Netherlands,Greece, etc??

“but we can fight for a brighter tomorrow for it”… cool! ;-)))

Hi, Andrey, I am interested in knowing the C6 game rule, especially the game time, in this upcoming C6 International Open Tournament in Russia. How long per player per game? Extra time per move after official time expires? SWAP rule? etc. On August 26th, Taiwan will hold the 2nd annual NCTU (National Chiao-Tung Univ.)C6 Cup Tourament. It will be nice to see other tournaments' rule. Thanks in advance.

It's nice to call it “international federation” but since there's only Russia, it's not much international…

We expect that other countries can join us. It's only first move. It's impossible to wait, when 3 or more countries meet each other and organise something international. Connect6 cup is a good chance to make our organisation International.

So as we find this,GIF and C6IF should be two Federation….

I think it's not a good idea to wait 10 or more years when C6 will be popular. GCIF is a good chance to help each other. Also, in Russia all gomoku players play c6 with a great pleasure.
