Connect6 Champ-how to solve?
  • Andrey at 2006-08-05

What we will do with C6 Champ that was almost finished to july. I think we have no right to replay it. W? mus not changed history. I apply to all C6 players-please lets play games as it was alredy played. Two variants, first just resign them who has lost their games or played as it was played once.(all moves if you remember, as for me i can remember)

To Marsh Song: i see no way for draw exept 150 moves, maybe Richrd will add draw option very soon…i hope much.

To Richard: please try to recover lost data.

Unfortunately i think it's unreal, as you can see the winning desire of some players is too high.

Also im dissaopinted that they act like they do not read forum.

To many people, I think to see all those game moves are more important than to know who wins or who loses. At this point some games are still too early to show the definite end results. We can imagine that months after, people who come to see the Championship games can hardly understand what's going on if players resign now at the games' early stage. So, to play as it was already played before seems to be a better way.

Having said that, like it or not, the history has been changed, unintentionally by the playground Ruler Richard. This arguably offers players a chance not to repeat the mistakes they made before. By making what they now think better moves, the games then become more interesting or maybe more sophisticate and challenging. Why not? And then, after the re-play games are all complete, we know who the Champion is - this of course is the Champion of the re-play, as the Champion of the original Championship can never come out.

(A footnote: as I can remember the unfinished C6 Championship status before the system crashes, Marsh Song could be the original C6 Champion if he wins over or make a draw with Russian Boy; otherwise ondik would be the Champion with the highest son score. Correct me I am wrong on this.)

To continue playing C6 champ since this moment with other moves is very unfair. Ondik right saying:“who will give me chance?“. I finished champ with 2 losses and in this moment i have already them(same for ondik). But those players who has less loses then they had at the real end of tournoment have chances. It is very unfair to continue champ games in different way. The best decision(if not to replay games as it was played once) is to annulate results and start C6 Champ from very beginning. To enforce all players to play in a same way as they played 2 mounth ago is hard task i think, so…

Ondik, i think many players really dont read forums and this is bad and our situation become more harder to solve.

“This arguably offers players a chance not to repeat the mistakes they made before. By making what they now think better moves, the games then become more interesting or maybe more sophisticate and challenging.”

As Andrey wrote by quoting me - this chance must be given to all players (what means repeating ALL games) or to nobody, otherwise it's unfair. Now it's like - the slowest player is, the highest chances to change the results has.

As for me, if I had finished the Ch-6, i had 2 losses too. Of course, returning data to 3 month before is a big problem for me. I suggest, who is ok to recover the results? Ex: Patriot - yes, Ondik - … and so on. As for me, if all player of C6 (1 league) agree - I resign my games of Championship.

  • Infinity at 2006-08-06

I agree with Patriot, can someone post the last result of C6 championship (table version)

  • euhuang at 2006-08-07

I agree with whatever the consensus you guys reach, with the limitation that I probably cannot exactly remember all the moves I made before.

Allow me to put this in a philosophical way: the “God” of this playground (i.e. Richard) unintentionally made a joke on “his people” (i.e. players on LG). Time clock was turned back to 2 months before, records are partially erased, players are offered a chance to choose different paths, and the history can be (actually has been) changed. Like it or not, fair or unfair, everything is different now - rank, score, moves, games, and even players' minds. The “God” doesn't tell his people what to do next. Therefore, some people just cannot believe all this, some people wait and see, some people try to convince others what they should do, and some people keep moving. For all those people's thinking, suggestions, arguements, the “God” doesn't respond (He probably is watching). From all I can see since the reset, there are less (C6) games played, less people registering, and (I hate to say this) even less fun.

    Why?

Maybe it is because some people care, but some people don't. And for those people who care, they probably care about different things. Some want things back, some want fairness, some want to have fun, and some want to utilize the chance to re-make their bad moves.

    So here you are.

For me, I just want to play, to play with good players and have fun. I of course cannot ask all of you to bear the same mind with me. However, all I ask of you is: Please do come back often, register, and start playing. That is all I ask of you.

(A footnote: before I started re-playing the unfinished C6 championship games since the re-set, I sent a message to each player to ask how he likes to continue. I waited for a couple of days but got no response at all. Then I saw a few C6 championship games (including one of mine) were being played differently, so I realized the history has been changed and can never be the same. Therefore I decided to move forward and accept new challenges (and give others new challenges too, ha!). Do I care about the previous result? Well, probably yes but certainly care less than enjoying the fun of playing.)

My feelings about the crash could not have been expressed better, euhuang. Thank you.

  • Russian boy at 2006-08-07

Hmmm… i'm sorry but i don't remember how i played in the past. As for me, I don't care about result or rate. I know, if i want i may play much more better. In my opinion, we should play as we played, and if somebody don't remember the previous moves we should resign as it was. My problem is - I don't remember which games i win, and wich i loose. Please, give the last info (championship result (table version). Of course, we cannot recover all. But we may recover the results of Championship C6. Many people cares of the rate. Strange, but if somebody play in definite level - his rate will be balanced and that's all. Sorry for my English.

  • Infinity at 2006-08-07

I resign those games which i remember that i loose. Who wins me in C6 Championship?

  • ondik at 2006-08-12

I'd like to thank you, because i find very fair what you did, although you could make better results in this “new” championship.
