Should bennok's games in the Norway-Europe match be replayed?

Please discuss this issue here, not in the results thread.

I have finally updated the tables according to the posted results. Please post all new results in the results thread.

For all that do not know what has happened. The situation is like this : Bennok has lost 3 of his 5 games in the Norway-Europe match due to time expiriation, some time between Christmas and New Year's Eve. I'm not sure why but probably he miscalculated the vacation days he had left for 2003. After 2 weeks he informed that he agreed with his opponents to replay the games. The question now arises:

Should these games count for the Europe-Norway match or should the score be left as it is ?

My opinion is that we will win 5 more games anyway and win the match, so it doesn't matter whatever counts.

I think he ought to know that he was out of vacation days, since he timed out in a Twixt match against me in October. :-) I don't think that the new games should count, since it leaves the possibility of tactical time-outs in future competitions.

I think it's ok that they are replayed. However, if ever I suspect that anyone tries a “tactical timeout” to get more time for their game (that's what you gain…), I will surely be hesitant to play against that player again. However, I do not believe that this was the case in the current situation.

But, as yper stated, it probably won't matter anyway…

I can't see any reason why they should be replayed. Time managment is a part of the game, and I don't consider a timeout to be any differnet from other ways of losing.

The games couldn't have been replayed if they were part of a normal tournament. Why have differnet rules here?

Hi, I didn't know there had be a discussion on the subject. Here is the situation: On my holiday time I had taken a computer and cell phone with me for being able to play. Only I had no signal up there. It took me some days to figure I could use the modem of my computer to connect in my hotel directly. Most of my games where gone.

I must say, my wife and children have left very little time for computing or gaming which they consider a loss of time. Especially my wife :).

I see one reason why my updated games should be accepted as part of the tournament: Apparently the system is designed to 'use' vacation days only for tournament games. Our tournament being 'un-official' the games were regarded as not important, therefore not worth consuming the last vacation day, I had left!

Nevermind, I salute the definite superiority of the the Norwegian team! Bravo!

Or rather “Bravi!” as an italian would put it..

And thanks to Taral, Jan, and Marius who all three agreed to play the games to the end. Even if they don't count in our tournament :).
