Is Norway going to be the biggest power in hex world? look at the rating list. its full of norwegian flags. in addition to this in top 3 there are 2 guys from Norway. im courious when there will be 3 Norwegian in top 3;)

i think as long as david keeps playing and doesn’t move the usa will have one in the top 3 for a long time...:)

I fear that I, at least, will never be able to challenge David for the top position. In fact, it seems that my rating very soon will take a rather steep dive, and I’ll be lucky to stay above 1900.
However, an interresting fact is that all the norwegians in the top10 list actually work in the same place! So, if there ever is to be a “company championship” we expect to do well :-)
Long it seemed like USA would be nearly alone in the top rankings, but lately both Norway and Poland has made their appearence in the top10 too. I expect Hungary might have done well too, if more hungarians were to play here.
I believe that if we get the wiki up and running, many of us might learn much about Hex in a rather short time. This might turn the ratings around, and current tactics might be replaced with new ones – and we’ll all become better players. At least, so I hope...

Me too. And, contrary to appearances (e.g. on the wiki yahoo group) the wiki is on its way. Not very quickly, but at least moving forwards.
Of course, if anyone wants to participate more actively in realizing the wiki project, making it a dream come true even faster (current projected beta release date around xmas 2003), feel free to let me know. :)

Any chance that you will hire me if I ever make it to the top 10, then?

So what do top ten hex players do for a living and where do you work?
mirror_man at 2003-11-17
I’m earn money doing computer programming in MD. I don’t know how much longer I’ll hold out in the top 10, though! I’d also be curious how the top Hex players rate in Chess & Go. (I’m AGA 6-dan, but am lousy at chess.)
Ryan at 2003-11-18
I am just starting college and only have a regular job while I go through that... I started chess very young but don’t seem to play well against the really strong players online, and I don’t even know how to play go, really
Ryan at 2003-11-18
Haha, well I guess I am not top ten right now, but I usually am. Just about everyone gets a bad run once in a while.

I’m in college studying math, I tutor occasionally. I’ll graduate next December probably, and plan to become an actuary.
