ratings deflation

Several new strong players have entered the Hex arena. In such a small field, this can have a significant impact on everyone's ratings in the short term, as these new players start with ratings lower than their actual strength. This reduces the ratings of players who lose to them, and it becomes more difficult for these strong players to improve their rating, as they play each other. It's a feedback situation.

I approve of the current rating system, what little I know about it, inasmuch as it is applied fairly and equally to all, but more details would certainly be welcome. I notice there are no provisional ratings as such. Is the glicko system, or something like it, used here?

Anyway, it hardly matters; LG ratings were never intended to compare with Playsite or PBMserv or any others. I hope more and more new players will continue to arrive!

Your request seems to have been answered. There are many new players if I judge from the number of monthly cups. 17 !! cups in january, that's more than double than any month before.

About the rating, I think we should let things as they are. There seems to be lot of strong players that are rising and eventually do not let you rise to 2000 (and getting me down and down). I think 2 or 3 months ago there was only martin and you at the top. Now there's a crowd from position 2 to 9.
