Reply to this topic Return to forumWhat happens, if the first player passes?

Good trick. I'll have to remember that when I'm the first player and the second player is much stronger.
The board now shown after the first move is blank. That isn't proof of what was shown to the second player during the game, but if the second player was indeed confronted with a blank board after the first Pass, the only legal moves were to Pass or Resign.
Note: During the first move, the first tile that the first player places puts the coordinates of three cells into the URL, but Pass shows no cells' coordinates, so I expect the second player faced a blank board.
I have the same situation in a championship game:

What should I do?
My only options are “resign” or “swap”…
“Pass” should only be a legal move if it's impossible to play a tile. Similar to reversi, where you can only pass if you're unable to place stone. I hope this is fixed, and that no-one esploits this bug while we wait for it to be fixed.
I had reported the bug to Richard last week in case he didn't check this sub-forum.
I think it's okay to allow players to pass any time during the game, but if the first player passes, the second player must be able to place a piece onto the board.
@Marius: “'Pass' should only be a legal move if it's impossible to play a tile.”
It also makes sense to pass if you're sufficiently ahead. Especially if your opponent just passed. But I agree that Pass should not be a legal initial move of the game.
I expect he will then have to pass, then I will have to pass, and the game will be a draw?
I want to win :-)
Pass on a first move could be treated as just changing the sides. Player 2 becomes the new player 1, and has to place 2 pieces.
However, forbidding pass on the first move would be the easiest solution.
First, thanks for fixing it, and more generally for all your work on this website, it's great.
My only question now is what to do about my ongoing game?
It's a championship game, else I would have simply resigned long ago…
this is the game: http://www.littlegolem.net/jsp/game/game.jsp?gid=1536177
OH MY GOODNESS,
it's hard for me to set opening, that i was trying to let you(Tellmarch) set opening for the game. ;p
and I never thought that there is a bug,
now the question is… what I can only do is RESIGN, could you fix this also? thanks. :))
i have to set the opening after all… lol
