Resign Game / Abandonar partida

To those playing with players > 1800, you can resign game when everthing looks lost, ok?

Los que juegen con jugadores con ranking > 1800 pueden abandonar cuando vean la partida perdida, ok?

who decides when a game is a loss?

  • pedropajarito at 2006-02-06

common sense,If you have to pass more than 5 times in a row, your are lost for sure…

  • ypercube at 2006-02-07

hehe, are you sure? I mean there could be an example when one passes and still wins. With 5 passes and win, that is highly improbable, yes, but why resign? Some people still like to finish games like reversi and dots where there is an actual score at the end. It's not that many moves, anyway. In reversi, i think that the score (e.g. 40-24) counts in tournaments as a tie-braker, doesn't it?

That's true yper, the disc count matters, and therefore resignations are hardly ever seen in live tournaments. The situation is different here on LG since the disc count does not matter and a resignation can shorten a game by days. I have resigned several games here myself, but I can understand those who want to play it out and see the score. That being said, if the only measurement of winning chances is the number of passes, perhaps one should not resign at all. ;-)

Perhaps auto-pass might be the solution?

  • erwin vd berg at 2006-02-08

that suggestion was made some years ago, still no improvement.
