What to do with Championship 16… Our resident cheater now ended up in the top level of the Dvonn Championship. Paavo (winner of Championship 15) as well as RoRoRo resigned their game against this player in their first move.

Anyone care to share their opinion on what is best ?

Try my best to beat the cheater (which probably means I will actually be playing against one of the other good players around here via a Mitm game), or just resign and go for the 2nd place ?

Giving the title to “resident cheater by default wouldn't be my first choice if I believed I could win the game. The best thing would be for those in charge to reduce the vacation days time of the Mitm gang/increase the days of the victims so it is possible to force them to move before they have a move to copy!

What is best depends on whether the resignation takes away the fun for “resident cheater” or just make it easier.

The resident cheater will eventually take over all the top divisions in all games or almost all. Some people were convinced he would eventually get bored, but it is obviously not the case.

In the reversi forum I had proposed a parallel championship but nobody seems interested. Maybe the DVONN players can think about it.

My main aim for the championship is to try to be able to remain in the top league. I do not want to play against cheaters. At this moment, I am just planning to keep skipping the game for the next 3-4 weeks and see how the tournament develops (dont need those vacation days anyway). If my position is decided (cannot win,cannot be demoted, or will be demoted for sure), I will simply resign before my first move. Otherwise I might be 'forced' to play….

A parallel championship would be nice, the only thing is that it is a bit of a shame that such a thing would need the be organized, just because one player is messing things up. For the rest, the way the tournaments are currently set up is just perfect for me.

these kind of games will have cheater all the times. Years ago I saw players cheating in Dvonn tournaments. It's ok for me. I do not see these ones as contenders. But I do so for you ;)

For reference, I want RoRoRo to do what the majority of the division 1 non-cheating players want him to do. The insta-resign was a defence against MitM attacks, I can change it if desired.

Yeah, I just gave up. That seemed the clearest choice and RoRoRo was already leading the way. As long as there is only one cheater (well, there could be more, but I kind of think you others are for real) it's not too bad. We just have one slot less on the division (often someone just resigns their games or times out, so that's nothing new) and some messed up statistics. …Well, statistics like the winner, possibly. A bit sad.

Invite tournament could indeed be a solution, though not optimal.

FatPhil, can you make RoRoRo post tournament statistics without ja_mai_ca here on the forum?

Something tells me that 5Five and Championship will soon be up there.

Hi,

i heard before Ja_mai_ca was identified as a cheater,

but having a look at his DVONN games, the only thing I see,

are some games with 3 moves probably against himself some time ago.

If I understood the other Thread he copied the moves of our beloved Bot.

To be honest that idea to copy the bot moves is not obviously cheating for me, because I expected that the bot would decide for other moves than Ja_MAI_ca did.

Or is MITMing something about coding ?

Or is it just to late for me ?
