Wow, that is wild. I wonder why this format hasn’t caught on more widely?

I love the 37x37 game format (Go game variant?)... but it is hard to find somebody who is willing and able to finish a game which takes a few years to finish. :) 

 - maybe a long slow tournament should be set up???? 

There was an Einstein tournament that finished two months ago, it took over seven years. I believe Einstein isn’t a long game, but this tournament was double-round-robin with best-of-99 matches.

There’s an Infinity game of Einstein that’s been going for 59 months. It will almost assuredly outlive this pandemic (https://littlegolem.net/jsp/game/game.jsp?gid=1742106). With long games like this there’s always the danger of your opponent...um...dying.
