This game of 37x37 Go started 3 years ago today: https://littlegolem.net/jsp/game/game.jsp?gid=1880016 - looking forward to seeing a winner this year! (maybe)
Wow, that is wild. I wonder why this format hasn't caught on more widely?
I love the 37x37 game format (Go game variant?)… but it is hard to find somebody who is willing and able to finish a game which takes a few years to finish. :)
- maybe a long slow tournament should be set up????
There was an Einstein tournament that finished two months ago, it took over seven years. I believe Einstein isn't a long game, but this tournament was double-round-robin with best-of-99 matches.
There's an Infinity game of Einstein that's been going for 59 months. It will almost assuredly outlive this pandemic (https://littlegolem.net/jsp/game/game.jsp?gid=1742106). With long games like this there's always the danger of your opponent…um…dying.
in game 1880016 we are playing neutral points now. So there will be no further birthday.
There is a 37x37 Go infinity / ladder tournament Bernhard Herwig 11.4k is in 2nd place and Eönwë 11.9k is in 1st place (the B-day game is in that ladder/tournament; and there is also a Toroidal-Go (11x11) infinity / ladder tournament in which the same Bernhard Herwig 9.8k is in 4th place.
Furthermore, there is a 37x37 Go Championship, but with only 10 members last time I checked, and I heard it takes 20 members to get started, so It might not even start for many months (or years) and thus it might be…. decades before it is finished? LOL
Still not as long as G.R.R. Martin writing a book :D
…and it is over! White win by 12.5 points! Awesome. Seems very close for a 37x37 game to me!
