What do u think about seeding strong player to higher league?

Probably not to play 1st league, but I think if some dan player will first time register he could start at least not in lowest league…

It could be not so big problem on 13x13 or 9x9 because they are a little more quick. On 19x19 it could be a little … wait several year to play first league ;-)

Probably it could be possibility to have some voted place.

For example players in first league could vote who could play with them…

I think gary roberts or crelo (and also probably kspark) could be good example of players which have to play first league as qick as possible!

Other type of player is for example crusader who has 1. kyu but his id is bluff! :-))

I agree this is a problem. There are several possibilities:

1. create more groups in 2nd league (not only 2 but 4 groups)

2. have more player in groups (15 players ?)

3. In first group (1st league) will play 9 players from championship + 6 best player according to rating

4. In first group (1st league) will play 9 players from championship + all winners of rating tournaments (level 12).

5. Start 2nd championship immediately (according to ratings). Third championship will start according to result from 1st championship

I think also organizer of tournament could have right to seed players. He can seed brand new strong player or first player from lower tournament who is not classified…

Change first league is difficult… But probably u could make it with 15 player (seed several strong players) and in 3rd tournament it could be again 9 players who will continue to 1st league…

In second league u can have whole group from newbies with high rating… For example from winners of rating tournaments… And they dont need to be newbies!

U could also draw some players (winner of rating tournaments form lower (than 12) level…) to 2 league…

Or somebody could PAY (one time?) for place in first (second) league! :-) I think this possibility could be intersting for u! ;-) (but also it could be fee for winner of championship ;-)

I think it is a good idea to increase number of players. However I think 15 players in a group is to many. Perhaps 13 players is better with 4 places based on rating.

This would also be a good idea in chess!

This is also a good ideea, but there are some people who don't want to play too many games (i'm not sure if it's the case here). But it's difficult to focus on so many important games at the same time.

That can be dangerous, you might get more than 15 players…

This is the worst ideea because by the time we finish the 2nd championship here might appear another bunch of good players and we'll start this thread all over again.

So in my opinion, we should leave things as they are now (because this is a fair thing to do), and create a new championship based on ratings or rating tournaments winners. As it was discussed before, turn-based means a long time. Who is in a rush, can play real time games.

Please note that i want to play many difficult games, but if we break the rules now, we will have to break them every once in a while, because this is a nice place to play and the number of strong players will increase constantly.

Let's see some facts from the past (i took people with the highest ratings now and the league they started in):

• go 13x13: Bela Nagy l2
• reversi: alkosan l2, agoui l4, klaashaas l2, JeroenDmt l3
• gomoku: István Virág l2, iec l2

• 4ir: naomi_klein l2

In conclusion, this kind of people will keep coming to play here, you don't have to favor them.

Since I have not played championship in Go I will instead argue about championship in Chess.

I think in general it is good as it is today. One good unwritten principle is “do not do to big changes!”

What I think could be done is to increase the number of players in each group from 9 to 11. As it is in the ongoing championship, the groups are not filled up with players in the third league, i.e. 9 players in each group. But there are becoming more and more players so in the next championship it might be more participants. The number of groups in each league should stay the same but you could then have 2 places left for strong new players. These you, rio, could decide yourself who it should be, based on ranking or fast increased ranking. Some new players with high ranking do decrease quite quick others start low and increase very quick (e.g. Pablo Rodolfo). So, with an eye on single victories against other strong players or winners of other tournaments you could decide who is best qualified to take the 2 “joker” places.

Allow them at least to go to second league! :-)
