Team Waldorf
  • Ingo Althofer at 2011-05-15

    Hello to all,

right now I created my own team for “EinStein wurfelt nicht”:

    Team Waldorf.

My own role will be that of a non-playing captn,

similar to Mr. Waldorf in the Muppet show. From

time to time I will comment on my team members,

    their special strengths and weaknesses.

My expectation is that we will have lots of fun.

    Ingo.

PS. A colleague with name Statler would

be very welcome in the team!

  • groeneveld at 2011-05-15

then you have found yourself a new member

what must i do to join ??

ps my name is greenfeld ,not Statler (lol)

  • Ingo Althofer at 2011-05-15

    > then you have found yourself a new member

    > what must i do to join ??

    It depends…

    > ps my name is greenfeld ,not Statler (lol)

Do you want to take the role of Statler?

(It would be fine with me when you call yourself “Dutch Statler”)

Then your main taks would be to recruit new members

    and to “comment on them”.

Otherwise you are welcome, when your rating is

between 800 and 2200, and when you are robust against

    comments by (W)aldorf(er) and Statler.

    Waldorf.

  • groeneveld at 2011-05-15

    okay,waldorf

i can´t comment on players ,because i am rookie

    myself.

But i can mention the team, when playing against

    other people,who aren´t a member allready

i just appreciate comments from others, special

    the gamemaker…..

    Announcement:

“Team Waldorf” has been renamed to “Waldorf and his Bots”.

Bots of any nationality (C-land, Java, Fortrandistan,

    Eclipse Island) are very welcome.

    Waldorf.

  • groeneveld at 2011-05-16

i hope that this team, will not become

a bot team ,with 1 or 2 players

if so then i have to think about

    becoming a member

  • Ingo Althofer at 2011-05-16

    > i hope that this team, will not become

    > a bot team

Hmm. Perhaps you could provide your own bot,

“de Groene Bot”. It would not need to be so strong.

It even might be still somewhat green in its circuits.

    Waldorf.

  • groeneveld at 2011-05-16

i can´t follow you, what do you mean by groene Bot

please explain, because i don't know what you are

    talking about??

  • naive_child_c at 2011-05-16

I'm a beginner and not so strong as well as a bit confused sometimes, but I want to be a member of a 'bot team'.

    Please send me an invitation.

  • Ingo Althofer at 2011-05-16

    Hello Groeneveld,

    > i can´t follow you, what do you mean by groene Bot

It is a word joke only: using your name as inspiration for a bot's name.

    \\\***********************

    Hello naive child,

    > I want to be a member of a 'bot team'.

Thanks for joining the team. Feel comfortable.

    \\\***********************

    A challenge for programmers:

it would be fun to have some bot member Statler_c

in the team, with the understanding that Statler_c

gives automatic comments (in Waldorf & Statler manner)

on team members, their moves, or anything else.

    Waldorf (without c :-)

  • naive_child_c at 2011-06-02

Although I have only finished a game (won) but this tournament is quite difficult. It seems that I do not calculate deep enough and opponents are also very strong. This is a pretty good test for my algorithm, isn't working so fine for players >1730.

  • Ingo Althofer at 2011-06-03

    Dear my naive child,

    don't tell such nonsense.

Simply play, as every other child also does.

Father needs your points to win this tournament.

    Doc Waldorf

  • naive_child_c at 2011-06-03

Do not annoy me or I'll get my brothers ! ;)

  • Rafael Marques at 2011-06-03

    problem_child_c ?

  • naive_child_c at 2011-06-03

no that's my other account on a trainee page for physologists…

  • Ingo Althofer at 2011-06-08

    Hurray,

Ingo is back in the top-50 of the rating list!

  • Ingo Althofer at 2011-06-08

Only want to tell you that I am out of the top 50, again.

But no big problem, I feel fine. Really, fine.

But the dice are guilty. Some times I wish to have the

balance of Waldorf. Good old man. Very good man.

    Ok, new game, new luck.

Ingo (not a good loser, really)

  • YHW at 2011-06-18

Normally, good players are very rarely playing after reaching a high number of points. So, due to the team tournament, I'm glad to test the child also against

    stronger players.

The playing strength of RoRo or hanfried is not reached, but I'm not a professional programmer and I haven't also not the time of a graduate student or doctoral candidate, nevertheless, the child is able to achieve good results against the most (good) players. It makes me happy that a simple idea on which the child is based can be so effective.

  • Dvd Avins at 2011-06-18

As someone who's had a run of quite good luck lately, going many wins and only three losses lately, but where 2 of those three losses are in my only matches against your child, I wish I knew what that simple idea was.

BTW, the only other loss was to Ingo, playing on the same team as your child. You really have my number.
