Who is wurscht?
  • kitaktus at 2010-06-23

A new EWN-Star is arising – wurscht. rated in the Top-10 soon playing in the 1st league. But who is he or she?

    Can anybody tell me?

  • somar96 at 2010-06-23

no new star, he/she was just lucky

  • Greck at 2010-06-23

so, your 1495 is only bad luck, right? a nice and wishful thought ;)

  • somar96 at 2010-06-23

nope, my 1495 is over 90 timeouts :) now I'm slowly going up from 1100 or 1200

  • Greck at 2010-06-23

slowly? due to bad luck, for sure!

  • kitaktus at 2010-06-23

You are right, no _new_ star. He started playing in the early EWN-days, but stopped for a quite long time.

  • somar96 at 2010-06-24

well not slowly, it took me about 30 games

  • somar96 at 2010-06-24

    I got about 60% wins I think

  • Greck at 2010-06-24

Anyway, it's quite easy to have a temporary excellent ranking, by delaying the lost games and winning a lot in a row. The so-called “passenger experiment” :)

  • Greck at 2010-06-24

(i'm not telling it's the case here)

  • somar96 at 2010-06-24

I know that, but I don't do that. it's pointless

  • Greck at 2010-06-24

completely pointless. you can easily drop to 1200 after a fast rise to 1900 :-)

  • Ingo Althofer at 2010-06-24

    Very interesting discussion, really.

It is indeed pointless, at least in the world of Little Golem.

But, when you look at the financial market and the behavior

of banks nad even of whole countries, it occurs quite often

that such an institution performs certain actions a few

seconds before midnight (to get a “positive” balance), and

to undo these actions again a few seconds after midnight.

Long lives LittleGolem without such trickplay!

    Ingo.

to get to 1900 and back to 1200 you would need to have a few hundred games :/

  • Greck at 2010-06-25

not really, with 100 games by winning 50 in a row you can get quite high, and when you are on top every loss is a big loss of rating points.

  • kitaktus at 2010-06-25

Yes, but the way down from 1300 to 1200 can take quite a long time.

  • somar96 at 2010-06-25

yes that's right. it took about 90 timeouts to get down from a bit over 1500 to a bit under 1200

  • Jonny at 2010-06-27

    well, noone knows the answer?

  • opmp at 2010-06-27

may be an “old friend” from inet…

  • Greck at 2010-06-27

Look at Passenger's rating chart. He dropped from 1950 to 1350- quite quickly :)

  • Rafael Marques at 2011-07-02

Anyone noticed that wurscht has been erased from the rankings table?

  • Ray Garrison at 2011-07-03

there is no player with the name “wurscht” at littlegolem. Probably changed her name at some point.

  • Rafael Marques at 2011-07-03

No. The whole account has gone. wurscht has been inactive for years but was ranked in the TOP 10 of EWN until one or two weeks ago. And no new name has appeared instead of his/her's.

  • Rafael Marques at 2011-07-03

I have to correct myself. Only wurscht's ranking entry has gone, the account is still existing, as the following link shows:

    http://www.littlegolem.net/jsp/info/player.jsp?plid=11873

  • Aganju at 2011-07-03

It is common that people get removed from the ranking lists; I look at them regularly in detail, and they shrink (!) about 5% per 6 month (though not all the same amount).

I think that after one year of inactivity in a game, you get removed - 'wurscht's account shows: “Lastconnect: 2010-06-24 12:27” which is just over a year ago. Considering timeouts, he might have lost his last game exactly a year before being removed.

  • Rafael Marques at 2011-07-03

After looking at other inactive players, I think they only get removed based on 'Lastconnect'. hubbie_c for example hasn't played a game for more than 3 years, but last connected on 2011-06-01 18:35.

  • OneStone_c at 2011-07-31

Forgive this post. Was just looking for a quiet place to see if I've crossed the trustworthy threshold. If so, it looks like 5 rated games suffice.
