Champions2020 boardgame English rules for proofread
  • FC Cwali at 2011-08-24

    For English language players here:

You can now read the English *Champions 2020* rulebook (with the examples, without the artwork) , just updated to version 7 :

http://www.cwali.nl/champions2020/c2020.htm (click on the link to the excel file)

And I can use extra help to improve the text, because it needs to finish fast these weeks. Mainly for 'grammar' and English soccer terms. You can also tell if something is not clear.

Do mark your changes by underlining or other way clear in the excel file. Send your excel file to the email address you see linked on that site.

Here a small list of words I am not certain about how/if using them in describing soccer rules: long dive / kicks / shoots / shot / clamp / goalie kick / KICK-OFF AFTER A GOAL / re-start / corner kicker /

rude player or agressor (can be fouler) / Suspension is the right word?

( “vise versa” must be “vice versa”, I just found that.)

I use lots of typical soccer words in the Dutch rulebook. For example “Miracle dive” (that name is at the picture with the widest distance to the ball where the goalie still has a (small) chance, if the shot isn't fast) is in the Dutch rules “Snoekduik”. I don't know such soccer terms, you could provide some.

UK version 8 is up. Same link: http://www.cwali.nl/champions2020/c2020.htm (click on the link to the excel file)

    Much improved!

UK, DE, NL get ready and all prepress works too. I only need a French StreetSoccer fan who can translate quick! Please inform French StreetSoccer fans about this request. Not everyone reads here.

(If you like soccer/streetsocer, this rulebook is fun and 'quick' to translate. My normal rulebook translators don't like soccer, then it gets slow and will not be good.)

    Hi,

    I fould this error:

In the tournament rules you forgot to translate yellow _kaart_ into yellow _card_

    Thomas

  • FC Cwali at 2011-08-25

Thanks, I missed that. All help appreciated!

  • Thomas Werner at 2011-08-25

    Hi again,

in the introduction the word profis should be written without the apostrophe, when you are talking about more than one profi.

In my eyes it could be nicer to write: “The members of your team are called players.” In the Kill-Joy section there is a typo: freee.

    Thomas

    Thanks.

Making much progress … deadline: 2 weeks. Need French StreetSoccer player to translate, and other to proofread! So, spread the word …

After StreetSoccer 8 years for free on this site I hope for an enthousiast translator here who wants to help me with the soccer game. Of course you get the game.

  • JeanHebert at 2011-08-25

I could translate the game to French. It is my first language, so there shouldn't be any problem. How would you want it to be done?

  • FC Cwali at 2011-08-26

Thanks for your offer, I just messaged you.

Canadian French. :) Is that equal with French soccer wordings?

  • Dvd Avins at 2011-08-26

You kick the ball with a stick, right? :)

  • JeanHebert at 2011-08-26

Canada does have a national soccer team, the only problem is that it is ranked about 100th in the world. But yes, hockey is our national sport and pretty much the only sport watched here.

On topic: The translation should be done by tonight (my time) and be put online soon, for error-checking and proof-reading.

    For the French players here:

Champions2020 rulebook with French texts you can find here: http://www.cwali.nl/champions2020/c2020.htm , the last (3rd) link.

Made by Jean. When you proofread and find errors, then he can edit it. I can't read much French.

The other 2 links are UK version (layouted rulebook with UK text is almost final) , and Dutch (that version is good, but proofreading may still help).

(OFF TOPIC) I remember that Canada took part in World Cup in Mexico 1986. But I don't think that they scored a goal!

  • Duke of Prunes at 2011-09-02

(IN TOPIC): do you want an Italian translation?

  • ypercube at 2011-09-02

    or Greek?

  • FC Cwali at 2011-09-08

You can see the FR rulebook at http://www.cwali.nl/champions2020/c2020.htm , the lowest 6 pages, jpg's.

If you are French: I hope you can scan through it to find serious errors. Problaby no serious errors in texts, but with copying in the layout something can go wrong. And tomorrow it will get finalised. Small errors we correct tomorrow morning.

(German version you can see there too, but I have correction list for that.)

First complete boardgames ready (except the boxes, that is in progress at this moment). See much at http://www.cwali.nl/champions2020/c2020.htm . Text and pictures there are especially clear for who already knows StreetSoccer. I played the first “official match”: Netherlands-Germany 4-1 :)

  • MarleysGhost at 2011-10-10

    From http://www.cwali.nl/champions2020/c2020.htm:

    “Figure 11: … The goalie looses 1/4 chance…”

    looses –> loses
