Too many winners in tournaments
  • garyk kaspik at 2003-05-05

I saw too many winners in tournaments and therefore I suggest to apply additional criterions how to select one winner. The additional criterions could be in priority sequence as follows: 1. mutual match 2. lower rating (i.e. I am winner if I draw the game against player with higher rating) 3. black pieces/side etc.

If you have any additional thoughts, please respond.

I saw too many draws in tournaments and therefore I suggest to apply additional criterions time how to select one winner. The additional criterions time could be in priority sequence as follows: 1. Tecnical match 2. Highest rating (i.e. If I am not running at a time loss if I draw the game against player with low rating) 3. white pieces/side etc.

If you have any additional vacation thoughts, please explain.

If the third criterion to decide a tourney winner would be mutual match it should be the LOSER of the mutual match that WINS the tourney. The reason is that the mutual match is already the most important match regarding the SON. So IF you put the mutual match AGAIN into the criterion you should work backwords.

On the other side I think it is great to have so many draws!
