Bill, in fact hex is often decided near the end like that. We're all obsessed about first moves, at least I'm obsessed about that, but at same time unless you're playing with really top players the game is going to be decided near the end.

Btw, you should play, if you've no time to think about games, then play random, it's still fun. You'll win once in a while even if you play bad!

When my work is less demanding or I retire, I will play.
