19x19 Hex?
  • David J Bush ★ at 2003-01-06

Who would like to see 19x19 Hex? Let's give Go a run for its money! Of course, it would still not be anywhere nearly as deep as 19x19 Go, since the branching tree of “reasonable” moves is much less dense. But wanga manga! Total brain lock! From a statistical standpoint, it is much more likely that extraterrestrials play Hex, instead of Go. Let's get in on the ground floor! Woo Woo!

    Yes, yes, yes!

    19x19 !!

and when we get a good grasp of it, then 199x199 !

or should it be 1999x1999 ?

or 2004x2004 and propose it for a new olympic game !?

Anyway, I agree with Jeff. 19x19 sounds exciting.

At least it would be nice to be able to choose any board size when playing unrated games. That is, any board size within reasonable limits, say between 2 and 26.

Well, 20059 which is still going, has taken up most of my time for over a week now, 19x19 will certainly not be for the faint of heart, I do agree that hex is the one intergalactic game of choice.

Over the past 40 years, I have introduced 19x19 Hex to more than a dozen strong amateur Go players. Some could spot me 3 stones at 19x19 Hex. I am eager to play it here, and expect that the opportunity to play it here will again attract strong go players to Hex.

    Thanks!
