Could you please make it more obvious that newly registering players should assign themselves appropriate ratings?
I know someone reported here that at least one player declined to do so becuase he 'wanted to earn' his rating. I suppose there may always be a few players who do that, regardless of the fact that they are, whether they intend to or not, giving disinformation.
But I've recently spoken with two new players (one of whom is a friend whom I encouraged to sign up here) who said they simply didn't realize they had the opportunity to set their initial ratings. I think Rating Tournaments will better serve their audience if more ratings are at least somewhat accurate.
How can you change your initial rating? The only option for changing the initial rating when I registered here last night was the GO rating (of which I don't know).
I believe my rating for chess is 800-1100 something, not 1500.
Good question. I got an initial rating of 1000 - and I'm playing against people who started at 1500.
How do you set the start rating?
